Make an Impact Through Powerful Storytelling

We’re seeking a Technical Proposal Writer who can craft compelling, persuasive proposals that clearly communicate our technical solutions to large, complex customers. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of technology, strategy, and storytelling—someone who can turn complex concepts into clear, winning narratives.

What You'll Do

📝 Proposal Writing & Development

Lead the creation of high-quality responses to RFx (RFPs, RFIs, RFQs), aligning with customer requirements and showcasing our strengths.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather input and articulate solutions that meet RFx needs.

Apply a structured proposal process to manage timelines, contributors, and deliverables.

Identify and escalate risks (e.g., delays or resource gaps) to ensure timely execution.

📚 Content Strategy & Presentation

Maintain and update a centralized content library and proposal templates.

Use visuals—charts, graphics, and infographics—to enhance clarity and impact.

🔄 Continuous Improvement

Conduct interviews and research to refresh and improve proposal content.

Share monthly RFx highlights with stakeholders and subject matter experts.

Lead after-action reviews and implement lessons learned.

Peer-review and mentor junior team members.

Minimum Requirements: 7+ years of relevant experience

 

What You Bring

✅ Basic Required Skills:

Must be based in the metropolitan areas of Richmond VA or Washington DC

Bachelor’s degree or higher

5+ years of experience writing RFx proposals for large, complex customers (e.g., health systems, corporations)

2+ years of project management experience

Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills—especially in technical storytelling

Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

Experience with Shipley or similar proposal development methodologies

U.S. citizenship

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

🌟 Additional Preferred Skills:

Willingness to travel up to 10% for high-priority opportunities

Experience developing or delivering oral presentations

Background in healthcare or technical industries is a plus

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$94,500 - $157,500
