Enterprise Architect \u2013 GridOS Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMs)
Job Description SummaryAs Enterprise Architect, you will provide strategic and technical leadership across GridOS implementations, ensuring secure, scalable, and modern architecture aligned with utility clients’ needs. Working with Delivery Managers, PMs, and Solution Architects, you will guide multiple projects from pre-sales to delivery, with accountability for architectural governance, platform integrity, and delivery standards.

You will define target-state architectures for DERMS, ADMS, telemetry, and control systems across hybrid cloud environments using Azure, Kafka, RKE2 Kubernetes, Microsoft Fabric, and event-driven architectures.

This role plays a key leadership function in establishing best practices and delivery standards across project teams, cultivating customer trust, and ensuring the success of GridOS platform deployments.

Job Description

What will you work on as our Enterprise Architect?

 Solution Architecture & Technical Leadership

Architect scalable, secure, and cloud-native GridOS solutions across DERMS and ADMS platforms.

Define end-to-end technical architecture for control systems, telemetry pipelines, and DER integration using Kafka, ActiveMQ, Helm, Istio, MinIO, and PostgreSQL.

Lead technical solutioning in pre-sales (ITO) efforts; provide expert architectural input into Statements of Work (SOWs), estimates, and delivery assumptions.

Translate complex business needs into reference architecture, solution blueprints, and service composition across integration domains.

 Project Oversight & Technical Governance

Supervise and be technically accountable for architecture across multiple parallel GridOS projects via the Delivery Managers.

Act as the primary architectural escalation point, providing design assurance and problem-solving across active project streams.

Lead the definition, implementation, and ongoing governance of internal delivery standards, reusable architectural patterns, and deployment best practices.

Review and approve architectural artefacts, diagrams, and interface designs across GridOS deliveries.

Support factory and site acceptance testing through architectural alignment of deployment flows, network models, and performance expectations.

 Customer Engagement & Internal Collaboration

Cultivate strong relationships with customer IT teams, security teams, and delivery partners; influence long-term architecture roadmaps.

Collaborate with GE PMs, Solutions Leads, DevSecOps, and Service Engineering teams to ensure alignment of delivery with client objectives and GE standards.

Provide guidance to internal development and integration teams on secure API design, identity models, and PKI onboarding for SOAP/REST systems.

 Cloud & Platform Architecture

Lead cloud architecture and deployment strategy for GridOS solutions on Azure, including:

Hub-Spoke Network Topology

ExpressRoute, NSGs, Azure Key Vault

Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS) or RKE2

Velero, FluentBit, OpenTelemetry, and backup strategies

Leverage GitOps practices using ArgoCD, Helm, and Azure DevOps Pipelines for deployment standardization and repeatability.

Ensure alignment with Microsoft Fabric-based architecture for future state analytics, monitoring, and Power BI integration.

Required Skills and Experience

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (Power Systems a plus)

Experience

10+ years in enterprise or solution architecture in the utilities, OT, or critical infrastructure domain.

Experience leading architecture across complex, multi-phase utility programs, with matrixed teams and multi-stakeholder environments.

Strong hands-on knowledge of:

Kubernetes (RKE2/AKS), Istio, Helm

Event Streaming (Kafka, MQTT, ActiveMQ)

Integration (REST/SOAP APIs, GraphQL)

DevOps (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Terraform/Bicep)

Observability (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, FluentBit)

Storage (PostgreSQL, MinIO)

Experience working in regulated industries and aligning with compliance and cybersecurity standards (ISO27001, NIST, Australian Signals Directorate)

You bring:

A systems-thinking mindset, designing for interoperability, resilience, and security-by-design.

Leadership presence to drive architectural direction and consensus across diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Deep understanding of cybersecurity practices, certificate-based trust (PKI), LDAP, and secure API authentication models.

Strong communication skills to present architecture strategies to customer CIOs, CTOs, and cloud infrastructure leads.

A coaching mindset: mentoring developers and architects while building architecture capability across teams.

Nice to Have:

Master’s degree or TOGAF certification

Azure Solutions Architect Expert or AWS Certified Architect

Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform, and Data Mesh architectures

Experience in DERMS/SCADA/ADMS integration and utility telemetry pipelines

Experience with OpenDSS, CYME, PowerFactory, or similar power system modelling tools

As GE Vernova is a global organization, working across different time zones, and monitoring, reading and responding to contact outside normal working hours can be expected.
