This is a highly technical and educational assignment with hands-on work. EV technology is evolving rapidly as volumes increase in the industry and there is pressure to improve EV profitability. You will be trained for more complex tasks after learning basic lab operations.

You'll have... 

Associates Degree or equivalent experience in mechanical, electrical, automotive or related field. 

Good mechanical and electrical aptitude.

Ability to utilize generic shop tools, power tools, multi meter and wire crimping tools.

Ability to fabricate mechanical fixtures and wiring harnesses based on engineering support, schematics, diagrams and drawings.

Ability to operate chain falls and small overhead cranes.

Basic understanding of automotive 12V systems.

Basic skills in use of computer applications (Excel, MS Word and other Office products)

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Strong problem-solving skills 

Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks

A willingness and desire to learn new skills

Knowledge of higher voltage systems in industrial or electric automotive applications (208VAC-480VAC & 50VDC-1000VDC)

Knowledge of ECPL (Energy Control / Power Lock-out) and other high voltage safety training.

Ability to complete more advanced machining based on CAD models and engineering drawings.

Knowledge of running manual or automated tests in a lab environment

Programing skills such as for test automation.

 

Even better, you may have...

Experience working in test labs for power electronics or electrical machines.

Experience of machining, GD&T, welding, soldering, complex wiring harness fabrication. 

Experience running manual or automated tests in a lab environment

Knowledge of CAN, ASAP3, EtherCAT and Ethernet communication protocols.

Experience with software and controllers such as Matlab, Scilab, NI LabVIEW/TestStand, AVL Puma/Lynx, IMC Dataworks, Accurate Technologies ATI Vision, Vector, ETAS INCA, Siemens SCADAS/SIMATICS, MS Visual Studio or Sublime Text or other code editor to build applications.

What you'll do...

Inspect components of eMotors such as rotors and stators 

Assemble test sample electrical motors

Instrument inverters and electrical motors for test with thermocouples, accelerometers, voltage and current probes, microphones and other equipment.

Prepare test setups in lab environment including high voltage testers, thermal chambers, power cyclers, ovens, dynos, chillers, coolant conditioning units, and data acquisition systems.

Conduct testing based on test procedures and assist in the troubleshooting of test setups.

Support test lab operations including shipping/receiving/inventory of test samples and test setup parts, facility maintenance, and test equipment calibration. 

Fabricate High Voltage and Low Voltage wiring harnesses and test fixtures to support eDrive testing for power electronics and electrical machines.

Assemble various test fixtures and complete fabrication for custom parts

As training, skills and capability progress, independent running of test procedures & programs
