Job Title: Engineering TechnologistJob Description Join our diverse and fast-paced organization as an Engineering Technologist in a dynamic asset designer position. You will play a vital role in performing field inspections, engineering design work, and calculations while interacting with various electric utility disciplines. The position requires coordination with permit agencies, right-of-way specialists, system owners, field leaders, forestry leaders, and third-party owners for joint-owned poles. You will provide engineering support during construction, conduct post-construction reviews, and perform root cause analysis of outages. Responsibilities + Review work provided and assess requirements of scopes. + Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure engineering and construction standards are met. + Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design. + Travel to sites as needed, perform inspections, and return to the office for engineering design work. + Coordinate with permit agencies, right-of-way specialists, system owners, field leaders, forestry leaders, and third-party owners for joint-owned poles. + Engage with technical design standards, ensuring quality and timeliness of design deliverables to QAQC. Essential Skills + Proficiency in design, engineering, and drafting. + Experience with AutoCAD and distribution design. + Knowledge of power distribution, utility design, distribution engineering, mechanical design, substation design, transmission design, power, and utilities. + Strong understanding of basic engineering theories and principles. + Ability to research engineering and design issues, evaluate alternatives, and make sound recommendations. + Strong interpersonal skills and self-motivation. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Graduation from a two-year college or university with a focus on Engineering or Technology is preferred. + Basic knowledge of the electric utility industry, including primary and secondary distribution systems. + Understanding of utility standards and the ability to use design software packages. + Analytical competence to interact with engineers and experienced distribution system designers. + Working knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and national engineering standards. Work Environment The work is primarily performed at the Charlotte office, which offers a positive environment with a spacious and engaging workspace.
