Actalent is looking to hire an engineering technician as a consulting in supporting a large electronics and tech company in the Portland area. This role will have elements of hardware, software, and light IT, and is supporting testing.
Job Description
This role involves working in an operations/manufacturing group consisting of two teams: conventional test engineering and manufacturing software engineering. The primary responsibility is to support both teams, spending the majority of time in the test engineering area. The position requires front-line troubleshooting of software, hardware, and IT errors on the production floor test equipment. Common activities include characterization of software/hardware components and optics, general production test support, triage for production line operators, and root cause troubleshooting at the functional board and test instrument level. Additionally, the role includes testing the security/compliance of test stands, network connectivity, updating documentation, and managing tickets for test-related IT issues. The initial scope for the first six months is to assist with deploying Windows 11 upgrades on test stands/stations and configuring them correctly.
ResponsibilitiesProvide front-line troubleshooting for software, hardware, and IT errors on production floor test equipment.Characterize software/hardware components and optics.Offer general production test support and triage for production line operators.Perform root cause troubleshooting at the functional board and test instrument level.Test security/compliance and network connectivity on test stands.Update documentation and manage tickets for test-related IT issues.Deploy Windows 11 upgrades on test stands and configure them correctly.Essential Skills2-5+ years of experience as a technician working on electro-mechanical systems.Proven experience in triage and root cause problem solving for software, hardware, and IT issues.Effective communication skills for interfacing with multiple parts of the organization.Strong computer skills for handling tickets and tracking test/repair/IT issues.Basic knowledge of working in a Windows environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsProgramming/scripting skills or an engineering background.Scripting/programming experience.LabVIEW experience.Actual IT experience.Ability to self-study and learn on the job.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.
