Engineering Technician
Job Title: Engineering TechnicianJob Description Join our team as a Construction Material Testing Technician (CMT) in Kennesaw, Georgia, where you will play a crucial role in environmental and construction projects. Your primary responsibilities will include producing daily field reports on concrete testing, basic Construction Quality Assurance (CQA), and geosynthetics. This position requires travel and extensive fieldwork, offering a unique opportunity to build a career in the environmental consulting field. Responsibilities + Oversee contractor activities and performance on various projects, including remediation projects, landfill construction, and industrial process projects. + Perform field and on-site laboratory tests on soil, geosynthetics, aggregates, and other materials associated with landfill and/or waste containment system construction. + Monitor job site activities to ensure compliance with relevant contract documents, such as technical specifications, construction drawings, sampling plans, and CQA plans. + Provide CQA monitoring on various construction and environmental activities on enviro-civil construction sites. + Conduct multi-media sampling to support investigations, monitoring programs, and other data collection-centric projects. + Prepare daily and weekly field reports, construction schedules, and progress reports. + Ensure project documentation is accurate and consistent with company policies and procedures. + Interact with project personnel, including contractors, project managers, engineers, and clients, to foster an integrated team approach through open communication and participation in work progress meetings. + Assist in preparing final reports, work plans, health and safety documents, and assembling report appendices. + Observe and adhere to site-specific project health and safety plans and the company's Environmental Health and Safety Management policies and procedures. + Perform tasks in other company practice areas, including general construction services, environmental sampling, contractor oversight, or construction quality assurance activities, as needed. Essential Skills + Experience in testing concrete with ACI and geosynthetics. + 2+ years of experience in Construction Material Testing (CMT) with concrete, soils, and geosynthetics. + CQA inspection experience. + Basic mathematical capabilities, including understanding of square yardage, lengths, basic geometry, and algebra. + Strong report writing skills, with a focus on daily field reports. + Proficiency in basic PC use, email, and Microsoft Office products. + Experience with multi-media sampling, including soil, water, air, and geosynthetics. + Self-starter with the ability to work independently without supervision. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Nuclear Gauge, ACI, and ICC Soils Certifications are a plus, but not required. + Water sampling experience is a desirable perk. + Experience in landfill work, including soil density, liner installation, and contractor oversight. Work Environment This role involves extensive fieldwork, including travel, with a schedule that typically includes 10-hour workdays from 7 am to 5 or 6 pm. Occasional Saturdays may be required. The position offers great overtime options. Initially, you will travel 100% for the first couple of months for training, which may include regional training tours to various project locations. The company provides a field vehicle, phone, laptop, and gas card. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kennesaw, Georgia. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
