Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Engineering Technician to operate test benches within our R&D engineering lab. This role involves conducting various tests, troubleshooting test apparatus, and managing the mechanical upkeep and calibration of testing equipment. You will play a vital role in the development of new technology and products, ensuring they meet technical requirements within time and cost constraints.
ResponsibilitiesOperate test benches for structural, integrity, end-of-life, and efficiency tests.Troubleshoot test apparatus and replace components such as filters, pumps, and seals.Document test results accurately for analysis and interpretation.Participate in developing new technology or modifications to existing products.Consult with test requestors and lab managers to determine appropriate testing methods.Set up and conduct performance tests using established formats and procedures.Adapt procedures and equipment to meet complex testing requirements.Identify test equipment issues and communicate them to senior technicians or supervisors.Maintain lab equipment to ensure testing accuracy and efficiency.Assist with equipment calibration and perform basic maintenance.Keep lab managers informed of testing activities and challenges.Perform operational lab duties as assigned and meet established deadlines.Maintain a clean and safe work environment.Essential SkillsMechanical testing and mechanical aptitude.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other software applications.Experience with LabVIEW, troubleshooting, testing, and engineering.Knowledge in automotive manufacturing, hydraulics, and hydraulic assembly.Understanding of valves, pneumatics, R&D lab operations.Additional Skills & QualificationsAssociate's Degree in engineering technology, automotive technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.Previous experience as a technician or in a related field preferred.Working knowledge of test equipment and standards.Strong computer literacy skills, particularly in MS Office.Mechanical and technical aptitude.Understanding of measurement and control systems and calibration practices.Ability to adapt to changing priorities and communicate effectively.Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness in data and reports.Organizational skills and ability to multitask.Professional conduct and ability to work collaboratively towards common goals.Work Environment
This position is based in the Engine Air Lab, offering second shift hours from Monday to Thursday (2:00 PM – 11:30 PM) and Friday (2:00 PM – 6:30 PM). Initial training will occur on the first shift (Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM) before transitioning to the second shift. The dress code is engineering casual, requiring collared shirts, while safety shoes (steel toe) and safety glasses are mandatory in lab areas.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
