As we continue to build our talented workforce, we look for professionals that exemplify our core values, leadership characteristics, and approach to innovation.Our Charlottesville, Virginia, Machine Shop has an immediate opening for Engineering Technician 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.  The successful candidate will possess knowledge of and experience with machining capabilities, metal fabrication, and assembly design.  The ET 3 will interface with numerous departments and will directly support cross-campus collaboration.  Working at Northrop Grumman means making a direct contribution to mission projects that keep our homeland safe, expanding the boundaries of possibility, and reshaping the world we live in.

Job Description and Qualifications:Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

Responsibilities:Provides technical support to the factory floor as well as engineering teams Collaborates on manufacturability, providing feedback on capabilities and processesInterfaces with cross-campus teams in a professional manner Develops estimates and proposals for sub and final assembliesChampions first-time-builds within manufacturingProvides tactile build support; operates machining and assembly equipmentEstablishes manufacturing methods through process and documentation developmentConducts experimental projects driving innovation and technological advancementInspects parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, micrometers, and comparatorsRoutinely maintains equipment to ensure cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability specific to division requirementsAccurately and regularly performs statistical process control (SPC) specific to division requirementsActively implements lean initiatives by identifying and providing recommendations on areas for improvement, effectively applying lean concepts and tools in work areaObserves all company policies and procedures, including safety rules, and maintains a clean and orderly work areaPerforms other related responsibilities as requested

Basic Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 4 years of Programming/Engineering experienceExperience reading and following blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructionsExperience with machine shop mathematics, may include trigonometryExperienced with making advanced machine setups and understands machining capabilitiesExperience with sub and final assembly build structureExperience with lean initiativesU.S. citizenshipThe ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level clearance

Preferred Qualifications:CMM experienceExperience with Model Based EngineeringExperience using Master CamExperience with Program fixturing using conversational controllerExperience with GD&T standardsEstimating experienceExperience with sheet metal work, including SigmaNEST software.

Salary Range: $55,800.00 - $93,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
