**Engineering Technician, Materials** _Work Mode: Onsite_ **Location: ** Onsite – Kohler, WI **Opportunity** Under the general supervision of the Materials Laboratory Manager, perform a variety of test procedures on plumbing products and components to determine performance capabilities. Observe and record data and results in test reports. Conduct routine projects. At times, assist with projects managed by Materials Lab staff. Perform maintenance and calibration on lab equipment, as assigned. Begin to multi-task and handle daily workload with minimal direction. Looks to group leader for prioritization + Conduct Kohler, ASME, CSA, ASTM, IAPMO and other code test procedures. Receives general direction and works independently on assigned tasks. Mentored by senior technicians. + Prepare and organize incoming test samples, using multi-talking skills to optimize workflow based on priority. Deliver on commitments to customers. + Operate all laboratory equipment, including environmental chambers, xenon arc weathering equipment, and universal testing machine. + Set up instrumentation and perform a variety of complex tests as required. Observe and report any unusual results that may affect outcome or lead to new or useful insights. + Maintain complete records of all tests conducted, procedures used, and results obtained. Develop skills necessary to highlight and communicate deviations from standards and guidelines. Draws basic evaluation conclusions. + Prepare concise, complete, and professional Excel or Word reports for customer. + Interface with customers, as necessary, to acquire project background information to perform thorough and appropriate analyses of samples. + Perform color matching. Understand color spaces and color differences under the direction of senior technicians. + Perform preventive maintenance and calibration on laboratory equipment as assigned. + Clean equipment as required by maintenance manual. + Troubleshoot problems with equipment. + Interface with equipment manufacturers, as needed, to repair equipment. + Follow ISO 17025 calibration procedures. + Complete assigned projects mentored by senior technicians or Materials Lab Staff. + Maintain adequate inventory of supplies to perform tests as scheduled. Notify manager of items that must be ordered. + Develop individual goals/objectives to support the department goals through the use of the Maximizing Performance Process. + Personally demonstrate and drive the Kohler Core Competencies and Cultural Beliefs. **Skills/Requirements** + Associate degree in a science field or equivalent. + Preferably 2 - 3 years related work experience. + Mechanical aptitude, computer skills, and familiarity with metal/wood shop tools. + Must pass the Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue Test. \#LI-SC2 \#LI-Hybrid **_Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future._** _We believe in supporting you from the moment you join us, which is why Kohler offers day 1 benefits. The specific hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
