We are hiring for a permanent full time Engineering Project Manager position, working out of Glendale, AZ, within EPCOR’s North American Commercial Services (NACS) non-regulated business.  The Engineering Team within NACS supports EPCOR’s business development growth opportunities in Arizona, Texas and other states, by providing support during the business development process and managing design and construction projects that result from the business development effort.

 

As an Engineering Project Manager within NACS, the primary function of this position is to manage the design and construction effort of individual projects awarded to EPCOR through business development efforts.  This effort would include all phases of design and construction, including permitting, procurement and commissioning, primarily through interactions with engineering consultants and construction contractors hired via a bidding process.  Given the nature of EPCOR business development and the pursuit of projects outside of Arizona, travel could be required depending on the needs to successfully provide business development support and/or manage a project.

 

What you’d be responsible for:

 

Project scoping, scheduling, and cost estimationDevelopment of project execution plans and strategies, including stakeholder identification, risk assessment, and constraint analysisValue-based selection of engineering consultants and construction contractors through solicitation and review of bids and proposalsNegotiation of design and construction cost proposalsActive management and administration of engineering consultant and construction contractsCoordination of design and construction activities with Operations staffReview and evaluation of design and other technical documents prepared by engineering consultantsFormal and informal reporting on project progressDevelopment and updating of spending forecastsInteraction with Federal, State, County, and local regulatory agencies, other utilities, and property owners to obtain necessary easements, permits, licenses, certifications, and approvalsOversight of construction activities and coordination with construction inspectorsCompletion of close-out documentation for asset booking and capitalizationProviding technical guidance and advice to support Operations staff

 

What’s required to be successful:

 

A degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Planning, Project Management, Geography, or a related fieldA Professional Engineer’s License in the state of Arizona10+ years of experience with a general knowledge of civil engineering concepts, project management, and construction/operation of water/wastewater facilities and infrastructureAdvanced understanding of current trends and technology for water/wastewater conveyance and especially treatment systemsStrong communication skills and emotional intelligence for effective collaboration with diverse teamsAttention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environmentIntermediate understanding of water/wastewater utility operations Familiarity with industry safety regulations and federal, state, and county water quality and design regulations and technical standardsProficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
