The Product R&D organization within Emerson Test & Measurement is seeking a Principal R&D Project Manager to drive strategic improvements in our New Product Development (NPD) processes and elevate our R&D Project and Program Management capabilities. Based in Austin, TX, this high-impact individual contributor role will focus on identifying systemic gaps, implementing standard processes, and mentoring project leaders to enhance execution excellence across our global R&D organization. This role will champion both transformational and continuous improvement initiatives that align with business objectives and customer needs!
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Lead critical initiatives to assess, refine, and optimize R&D NPD and Project Management processes, tools, and governance frameworks.
Identify capability gaps in project and program management across the organization and develop strategies to address them through training, mentorship, and process enhancements.
Drive cross-functional alignment by collaborating with engineering, product management, operations, and quality teams to ensure consistent and scalable project execution practices.
Mentor and coach junior and mid-level project managers, fostering a culture of accountability, agility, and continuous learning.
Establish and track KPIs to measure project performance and process effectiveness, using data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
Facilitate partner engagement and communication across all levels of the organization.
Champion a customer-centric mindset, ensuring that process improvements and project outcomes are aligned with end-user needs and market expectations.

You are a strategic thinker and a hands-on leader who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments.
You bring experience in Program Management, Project Management, Process Management, and Organization Change Management to optimize Product R&D roles, processes, and technology to drive business needs.
You are comfortable navigating ambiguity and influencing without authority to drive meaningful change.
For This Role, You Will Need:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
7-10 years of experience in technical project and or program management
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Legal authorization to work in the United States
