The global Weir Technology and Process Innovation team brings new-to-Weir and new-to-mining flow sheets, product concepts, and technologies to benefit our customers. The Engineering Manager – New Process Equipment provides leadership of the effective engineering, design, and delivery of robust and reliable new minerals processing solutions and products. It includes mechanical engineering support to the Weir Technology and Process Innovation team on the ideation, concept development, design, prototype manufacture, testing, and on-site installation/commissioning of minerals processing solutions, including novel and innovative contributions to product development initiatives.
The role is responsible for leading and developing a team of senior predominantly mechanical engineers while supporting the new product introduction process. This role will lead the generation of product concepts to feed into simulation work, testing, and field validation, and will support with technical assessment of both in-house and third-party innovation, globally.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide effective leadership of mechanical and design engineers by directing engineering and design activities and collaborating with stakeholders.
Technical evaluation of new process equipment and technologies (identified in the wider market and also via in-house innovation) from a mechanical engineering perspective
Review and interpret technical specifications with respect to mechanical equipment for the project.
Support team members in the concept development of new equipment and solutions, and the continuous improvement of existing equipment and processes.
Support/contribute to Weir Technical Centre (Melbourne) and Venlo Technology Centre (VTG) (Netherlands) capabilities and operations.
Take the lead in implementing engineering and technical solutions within projects.
Where necessary, coordinate managing external parties to implement technical solutions within mechanical equipment scope.
Assist with end-to-end project delivery - from concept design, detailed design and factory acceptance testing through to post project delivery and support and trial of new products.
Develop products, sub-systems and enhancements with a focus on delivery, quality and cost. Have a full appreciation of FMEA, DFMA and methods to minimize product costs.
Promote innovation and contribute to new product concepts.
Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
Suitable qualification in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
Project engineering experience.
Masters / PhD in minerals processing or related field is desired.
Chartered registered engineer in mechanical engineering discipline is desired.
At least 10 years’ equivalent work experience in similar role in mineral processing equipment and systems.
Experience in leading highly effective teams.
Deep knowledge of, and experience with, a wide variety of minerals processing equipment across the minerals processing flowsheet, including crushing, grinding, classification, separation, hydrotransport, and tailings processes.
Knowledge and experience of manufacturing and assembly processes.
Working knowledge of minerals processing, and understanding of ore and slurry characterisation and testing, test planning, surveying, and piloting is desirable.
Site experience is required.
