\nWHAT YOU WILL DO
\nTeam Management and Leadership:
\n\nSupervise the activities of the development and test team to provide effective analysis, design, programming and testing skills in the production of software systems \nEnsure the development and testing team are directed towards profitable activities \nAllocate assigned resources, material, equipment for optimum utilization \nEscalate potential problems and obstacles which could affect project schedules or delivery in a timely fashion \nProvide mentoring to all developers and testers to assist with their personal development \nManage the team, creating a productive environment, building strong relationships \nCollaborate with relevant managers and project managers while allocating resources and tasks \nContribute to the management of the performance and productivity of developers and testers as required \nProvide leadership on software development practices and adherence to company quality policies \nContinually develop the skills of the team \nProvide day to day management of the resources (including performance reviews and performance management) \nSupport the company’s HR policies and practices \nWork with the HR team to recruit top quality talent\n\nSoftware Development and rollout, Solution Design and Architecture, Roadmap and Strategy Development:
\n\nClosely work with the Management Team (including Project/Program Management, Sales, Product Management – internal teams and Customer/Partner external management teams) to assess the requirements, define a strategy and develop a rollout roadmap/plan such that it aligns with the company’s visions and policies\nContribute to gathering requirements, ensuring they are achievable.\nDefine, analyse and design implementation approaches; gain product management or enterprise architect approval when required; work closely with customers and partnersProduce specifications from requirements and develop solutions aligning with the industry best practices.\nEnsure all activities and dependencies are identified in the planning phase.\nCompile accurate estimates of efforts and delivery timeframes - ensuring the inclusion of all activities required to implement the proposed design and having input into the planning process.\nDevelop integrated solutions that will deliver to defined expectations.\nEnsure security and compliance with appropriate certifications and standards are intrinsic within the code and programming techniques used.\nEscalate issues and delays in a timely manner.\nLiaise closely with other members of the Team (including development,, project management, test, ICS, FW) to ensure accurate estimations and delivery to timeframes.\nAssist with technical input to project management and work with project management team and test team to monitor project process.\nComplete changes or enhancements to the work as required.\nActively use and advocate our procedures and processes.\nEnsure software issues are fixed in a timely manner and tracked using tracking tools.\nEnsure solutions delivered to testing and support to achieve the agreed quality standard.\nAct as point of contact for test and support team providing collateral and advice.\nEnsure handover to support is completed and signed off by the relevant managers.\nCode and document deliverables to support future maintenance of code.\nProvide technical support to customers for installed systems.\nLiaise with hardware and software vendors to evaluate systems for use and/or integration with our products.\nMaintain and improve area of specialist knowledge by keeping up to date with advances in industry and undergoing approved training where appropriate.\n\nEstablishing Software Development and Testing framework and practices

\n\nEstablish appropriate Testing Framework and Practices liasing with the core Testing practice \nEnsure the test team can install and test the software. \nImplement unit and component testing. \nEnsure test strategies cover all systems and sub systems. \nValidate automated and manual test plan coverage. \nRelease builds for testing, acting as point of contact for test team, educating testers as necessary. \nEnsure test team able to complete thorough testing using detailed and valid test plans. \nEnsure all work tested according to the standard automated testing procedures\n\nTechnical Presales:
\n\n Provide Technical Presales support \nProvide estimates and work with Sales and Product team on new initiatives and change requests (including feasibility analysis) \nWork with the relevant teams to organize product demos for the customers and answer technical queries \nParticipate in RFP and RFI responses, ensuring the technical solution is achievable and cost and time estimates are appropriate.\nWHO YOU ARE
\nTechnical skills and Education:
\nEssential:
\n\nTertiary qualification in Computer Science or Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience at a senior level. \n10+ years software development experience in a similar role. \nAdvanced C++ and/or Java knowledge and experience. \nExperience working in & leading an agile software development environment \nProven ability to solve complex problems. \nAble to show clear design to code implementation techniques \nBroad experience of software development and relevant methodologies. \nExcellent communication skills both written and verbal. \nAbility to work with external customers \nAbility to build and sustain effective relationships. \nExperience with code testing, code coverage and code quality processes and metrics. \nNo restrictions to travel \n\nDesirable:
\n\nExperience with approaches to code testing (JUnit and automated) and code quality metrics. \nAn understanding of payments systems products and their product domain. \nAn understanding of the Convenience Fuel Retail industry \nFamiliarity with embedded devices \n\nExperience with enterprise level real-time transactional systems.
