The Engineering Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the Production Engineering and Research & Development (R&D) teams within the Wagners Composite Fibre Technology business. This position drives strategic and operational initiatives related to capital project delivery, continuous improvement, and the development of commercially attractive new products. The Engineering Manager ensures that all engineering activities align with business objectives and deliver value through innovation, efficiency, and technical excellence.
This is a full-time position with a competitive remuneration package.
Main Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, mentor and develop the Production Engineering and R&D teams to foster a high-performance, collaborative culture.Ensure effective resource planning, capability development, and succession planning within the engineering function.Promote cross-functional collaboration with operations, maintenance, quality, product engineering and commercial teams.Ensure all engineering activities comply with regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
Capital Project Delivery
Continuous Improvement
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across production processes to enhance safety, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to identify and work with the operational team to implement process improvements.Support equipment upgrades, layout optimization, and automation initiatives.
Research & Development
About You
To be successful in this role you need:
Minimum 7–10 years of engineering experience ideally in a manufacturing or similar environment, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.Proven experience managing cross-functional teams and delivering capital projects and product development initiatives.Strong project management skills.Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities.
