Engineering Manager, Drive
About the Team

DoorDash is looking for an Engineering Manager with strong product sense to oversee building out fulfillment strategies for new verticals of our Drive delivery-as-a-service business. This team is in charge of growing our fulfillment and logistics capabilities in order to excel in getting goods from our merchants to our consumers in a cost effective manner with speed and quality.

About the Role

This highly cross functional team will focus on 0 to 1 initiatives to help unlock new merchant growth opportunities and earnings opportunities for our drivers. The team’s charter spans mobile, backend and web components and involves problems like integrating with merchants and providers, developing our fulfillment APIs and capabilities, and improving our operational capabilities. The end goal is to do for last mile logistics what AWS did for cloud computing -- enable any third-party business to plug into our platform and have their items delivered, on-demand, anywhere in their city.

You're excited about this opportunity because you will… Lead and grow a team of exceptional backend and client-side engineers delivering end-to-end engineering solutions Collaborate with Product Managers, Business leaders, and key stakeholders to determine the team's roadmap and vision, and manage execution against that roadmap Provide architectural guidance and professional development for a team of 8+ Encourage innovation, teamwork, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, and outside-of-the-box thinking Oversee the hiring process for your team, in partnership with recruiting, to grow a diverse and inclusive team We're excited about you because you have… BS, MS, or PhD. in Computer Science or related field 3+ years of experience in people management leading full-stack teams (backend, web, & mobile) of 8+ engineers 8+ years of industry experience Extensive experience as an engineer in a fast-paced, product-focused development environment Experience with distributed system design, system scaling, and performance optimization Hands-on leadership and strong product intuition Humility - willing to get into the details and open to feedback Growth mindset - you're eager to expand your skill set and excited to carve out your career path in a hyper-growth setting Adaptability, resiliency, and ability to thrive in ambiguity - things can change quickly, and you'll need to help the team evolve
