Engineering Leader, Planner Modeling Team - Siri **Cupertino, California, United States** **Software and Services** **Summary** Posted: **Jul 26, 2025** Weekly Hours: **40** Role Number: **200614154** Join Siri as the Engineering Leader of the Planner Modeling Team and play an important role in redefining the Siri experience. You will collaborate with senior leaders and cross-functional partners to develop the core model that drives the agent’s behavior, determining when and how to call tools on the users behalf. In this role you will work at the forefront of what is currently possible with LLMs, working with simulation, evaluation, context engineering, and data generation. This role requires collaboration across teams, including teams building our agent’s “toolbox”, search, and close partners with Response Generation and Internationalization. Work closely with our Architecture Committee and the Evaluation Infrastructure team to align on strategic directives and leverage simulator-driven evaluations to measure and improve model quality. Engage in benchmarking state-of-the-art internal and external models and perform failure analyses to understand common failure patterns and gain exposure to cutting edge technologies and techniques. **Description** Key Day-to-Day Responsibilities: Technical: -Enable the team to improve model performance by iterating on prompts and evaluation tools -Conduct benchmarking of internal and external models -Perform failure analyses to identify common failure patterns and advocate for system-wide changes Operational: -Lead and prioritize team efforts to balance product and engineering goals -Facilitate meetings and ensure clear communication across the team -Onboard new engineers and adjust resources as projects evolve -Communicate progress and strategic plans to leadership and cross-functional partners in weekly status reports and weekly leadership meetings **Minimum Qualifications** + Technical: + Expertise in language models, agentic systems, and evaluation methodologies + Experience with tools and workflow development for model improvement + Passion for experimenting with and optimizing prompts + Operational: + Experience managing technical teams through ambiguity and change + Strong cross-functional collaboration skills that lead to the best outcomes for the customer + Proven ability to translate leadership goals into actionable tasks **Preferred Qualifications** + Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent work experience **Pay & Benefits** At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $228,100 and $393,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
