This role requires strong technical expertise in manufacturing and machining processes, coupled with proven leadership skills to manage personnel, equipment, and workflows. This position plays a critical part in supporting innovation, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and enabling the successful execution of engineering projects across the organization. **Essential Job Functions** + **Supervision** : Manage daily operations of the engineering laboratory and machine shop, including scheduling, staff oversight, and resource allocation. + **Safety Compliance** : Ensure all lab and shop activities adhere to safety regulations and protocols; conduct regular safety audits and training. + **Project Management** : Collaborate with engineers and researchers to plan, execute, and monitor lab experiments and projects. Lead process development efforts related to raw materials and new technologies. + **Equipment Maintenance** : Oversee maintenance, calibration, and repair of lab and machine shop equipment and instruments. + **Budget Management** : Assist in developing and managing the lab budget. Identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensure efficient resource utilization. + **Training and Development** : Mentor and train lab staff and interns, promoting professional growth and technical skills enhancement. + **Quality Assurance** : Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure accuracy and reliability of experimental data and results. + **Technology and Strategy** : Stay current on engineering strategies and trends to ensure the lab and machine shop support evolving business needs efficiently. **Requirements** + Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field. + Experience in product/process development withing a regulated industry, preferably in the Medical Device field. + 5+ years of experience in an engineering lab environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. + Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver on time. + Ability to execute testing, provide technical support, and collaborate effectively with engineering teams with minimal supervision . + Strong knowledge of lab and machine shop safety protocols and regulatory compliance. + Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities. + Proficiency in using laboratory software and technical equipment. + Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. + Effective communication and leadership skills. + A team-oriented and customer-focused mindset. + Strong technical understanding of lab and machine shop tools, equipment, and processes. + Basic financial acumen to support business case development and execution. **Additional Information:** + The anticipated base pay for this position is $89,000 - $142,600 annually. + The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year.
