Job Responsibilities:
POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Manufacturing Engineer Intern at Magna AIM Systems, you will play a vital role in supporting manufacturing processes, optimizing production efficiency, and contributing to the overall success of our operations. This internship provides a hands-on opportunity to gain valuable experience in manufacturing engineering within a dynamic and innovative work environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Corrective Actions:
• Assist in addressing fit/dimensional issues associated with the assigned program at both the customer and supply base.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to implement effective corrective actions.
• Support the implementation of continuous improvement ideas to reduce scrap costs and enhance productivity and product quality.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to determine resolutions to customer issues through root cause analysis.
• Implement necessary process and design changes to address identified issues.
Documentation and Work Instructions:
• Support the creation and timely release of detailed work instructions to guide manufacturing processes.
• Ensure all process-related documentation, including FMEA, control plans, and work instructions, is maintained in proper order.
• Support the corporate Ergonomics program by creating videos and assisting in the creation of job assessments.
PPAP and PDR Support:
• Support meeting PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) requirements and assist in PDR (Production Design Release) runs.
• Contribute to the success of new equipment run-offs and new program prototype builds.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Interface with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain FMEA, Flow Diagrams, Control Plans, and work instructions.
Risk Reduction:
• Assist the engineering team in reducing Risk Priority Numbers (RPNs). QUALIFICATIONS
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
• Previous coursework or internship experience related to manufacturing engineering.
• Knowledge of process optimization techniques. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master’s degree program in Engineering or a related field. SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
• Proficient Computer knowledge and skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Professional Communication skills (written and verbal)
• Strong technical and analytical competence in select areas of technology PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment and assembly plant, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer
