Engineering Director- Liquid

The Engineering Director – Liquid will lead a dedicated group of focused teams responsible for addressing the current and future technical support needs of PPG’s most critical asset in Liquid Paint manufacturing. This leadership role drives key global initiatives and programs across multiple Business Units (BUs), ensuring the efficient deployment of technical resources and the successful execution of critical projects. The role demands a strategic and hands-on leader who can optimize capital utilization, enhance process reliability, and foster innovation in manufacturing technologies.

The position can be based at the main PPG locations.

Key ObjectivesLead and coordinate global and regional technical support teams focused on Liquid Paint manufacturing assets.Drive programs and initiatives that span multiple BUs, ensuring alignment with PPG’s strategic goals.Own the global coordination and regional execution of critical technical projects and issue resolution.Efficiently deploy technical human capital across process & quality engineering, automation/mechanical engineering, and advanced capital planning.Ensure safe, efficient, and reliable process equipment operation, including technology integration, modernization, predictive maintenance, and asset integrity assurance.Optimize capital utilization across the Liquid asset class.Solve capacity challenges with a strong focus on identifying growth opportunities.

AccountabilitiesFull ownership of the technical strategies for the Liquid asset class on a global scale.Establish and maintain equipment and control standards at Level 0 and Level 1.Lead and develop a high-performing team of technical experts, recruiting industry-leading professionals to drive modernization and world-class manufacturing performance.Collaborate closely with Strategic Business Directors and the Manufacturing Engineering Center of Excellence (COE) to prioritize and mobilize technical resources for critical projects, problem-solving, and capital optimization.Act as the ‘voice of the factory’ to ensure plant needs and advanced problem-solving efforts are clearly communicated and addressed, maintaining strong connectivity with product technology teams.Provide resources and support for critical root cause analysis and problem-solving activities at global, regional, and local levels.Support and contribute to Business Continuity Plans (BCP) to ensure operational resilience.

QualificationsProven leadership experience in engineering management within manufacturing, preferably in the coatings, paints, or related chemical industries.Strong expertise in process engineering, quality engineering, automation, and capital project management.Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional and global teams.Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on capacity optimization and growth opportunities.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
