Within the EMENA McCain Team, the Engineering Director is responsible for all aspects of the management of an Engineering department in terms of leadership, fiscal discipline, as well as developing future capabilities for our existing sites through Masterplan drive, but also capabilities of our internal and external workforces.

This outcome has to be achieved whilst complying with all local, international and McCain statutory requirements for safety and food safety. The incumbent will work closely with the Site, Regional and Global Utilities and Infrastructure Engineering teams to lead the implementation and ensure the application of Utilities initiatives and best practices.

 

What you’ll be doing.

Key Responsibilities:

You provide technical expertise and guidance to project execution teams during the planning, design, construction, and commissioning phases of major projects.  You collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop utility system designs that optimize performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness while meeting regulatory and safety standards. You evaluate existing utility systems and identify opportunities for optimization, efficiency improvements, and sustainability initiatives. You develop and maintain engineering standards, specifications, and best practices related to utility systems design, operation, and maintenance. You support procurement activities by providing technical input and participating in vendor selection processes for utility system components and equipment. You assure a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the utilities engineering team and across the organization.

 

General Responsibilities:

Technical Expertise: you provide expert guidance and technical support to project execution teams regarding utilities engineering design, specifications, equipment selection, and installation requirements. You support and lead the Utilities Design Autorities, like DeKleijn. Module & Platforming approach: You design Utilities modules in a replicable approach to allow to minimize the Basic and Detailed Design rework for each site or Major projects deployment.Risk Management: You identify potential risks and challenges related to utilities engineering and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success and operational efficiency. Compliance and Quality Assurance: You ensure compliance with regulatory standards, codes, and best practices related to utilities engineering. Conduct quality assurance checks and inspections to verify compliance with design specifications and safety requirements. Training and Development: You provide training and mentorship to utilities engineering team members and project stakeholders to enhance technical capabilities and ensure alignment with company standards and best practices. Safety focus: You lead the development of Utilities Procedures in line with McCain’s safety transformation and culture. Take in consideration the future Maintenance and Operation users to deploy a proper approach while designing the technical solutions for Manufacturing.

 

What you’ll need to be successful.

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred. At least 8 years of experience in utilities engineering, with a proven track record of leading utility system design and deployment projects in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Strong technical expertise in the design, operation, and maintenance of utility systems, including knowledge of relevant engineering principles, codes, and standards. Experience with utility systems commonly used in food processing or manufacturing facilities, such as boilers, chillers, HVAC systems, and wastewater treatment plants. Proficiency in engineering software tools for utility system design and analysis (e.g., AutoCAD, MATLAB, Aspen HYSYS). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders. Strong leadership abilities, with experience leading and mentoring a team of engineers and technical professionals. Familiarity with project management principles and practices, including experience with project planning, scheduling, and budgeting. Fluency in English; additional languages such as French, or Dutch is a plus.

You’ll report the VP Engineering EMENA and will work with all business teams in French factories, with also a lot of interactions with stakeholders in EMENA zone.
