Position Overview:

As a Engineer, you serve as a specialist in the engineering team that supports the product. You help develop and gain insight in the application architecture. You can distill an abstract architecture into concrete design and influence the implementation. You show expertise in applying the appropriate software engineering patterns to build robust and scalable systems. You are an expert in programming and apply your skills in developing the product. You have the skills to design and implement the architecture on your own, but choose to influence your fellow engineers by proposing software designs, pro viding feedback on software designs and/or implementation. Use your technology acumen to apply and maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies within specialized area(s) of the technology domain. Evaluate new technologies and participate in decision-making, accounting for several factors such as viability within Target’s technical environment, main tainability, and cost of ownership. Initiate and execute research and proof-of concept activities for new technologies. Manage total product, financials and forecasting. Lead the design, lifecycle management, and total cost of ownership of services. Lead and conduct code review, design review, testing, and debugging activities at the application level. Lead functional design and architecture discussions with understanding of process flows and system diagrams to enable design decisions. Participate in routine and non-routine construction, automation, and implementation activities, ensuring successful implementation with architectural and operational requirements and best practices met. Provide technical oversight and coach others to resolve complex and severe technical issues. Lead disaster recovery activities and contribute to disaster recovery planning. About you:

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

2+ years of industry experience in software design, development, and algorithmic problem-solving.

Proficiency in programming languages with 1+ years of experience in any one of Go, Java, and Python.

Hands-on experience in building distributed systems, large-scale architectures, and backend APIs.

Strong knowledge of database design, data modeling.

Good understanding in analyze and optimize system capacity, performance, and operational health.

Experience developing responsive and intuitive front-end interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular.

Exposure to technologies such as Kafka, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, API Gateway

Preferred Qualifications

Platform Development: esign, development, and maintenance of core platform components.

API Engineering: Proven experience implementing highly scalable APIs using GraphQL and REST at an enterprise level.

Monitoring & Observability: Knowledge with tools such as Grafana, Kibana, and Splunk for monitoring, observability, and ensuring platform security, data integrity, and operational transparency..

Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code with a strong focus on performance, scalability, and reliability.

Process Improvement: should understand development workflows, tooling, and infrastructure to drive engineering efficiency.
