The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world.
Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.
Purpose of the Role
The Site Ventilation Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining effective underground ventilation systems to ensure safe, sustainable, and regulatory-compliant working conditions. This role supports operational teams by providing technical expertise in ventilation planning, risk management, and system optimization.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or Mine Environmental Control. Valid work rights for Australia. Valid Driver’s License and Passport. Willingness to travel to mine sites and internationally White CardHighly Regarded:
Graduate Diploma in Mine Ventilation. Postgraduate coursework or qualification in mine ventilation.Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in a mining or tunneling environment.Required Competencies
Proficiency in mine ventilation software (e.g., VUMA, Ventsim™). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and presentation abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team. Strong understanding of regulatory standards and safety practices.Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Develop sustainable and compliant ventilation designs. Produce underground ventilation concepts, layouts, and execution plans. Conduct scenario planning and cost estimation (CAPEX/OPEX). Identify and manage risks to improve system reliability and performance. Conduct ventilation surveys and implement testing areas. Calibrate and maintain ventilation instrumentation. Update ventilation network models using Ventsim or VUMA. Select appropriate ventilation equipment (fans, controls, ducting, filtration systems).
