Responsibilities
LSS Design Oversight: Lead and validate third-party designs for life safety systems including addressable fire detection, notification appliances, suppression systems (e.g., clean agent, pre-action, wet/dry sprinklers), and emergency communication systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA 72, NFPA 13, and UL standards.Detailed Technical Review: Analyze riser diagrams, device circuiting, voltage drop and battery calculations, survivability pathways, and structured cabling layouts to ensure code compliance, system reliability, and integration readiness.System Performance & Reliability Engineering: Assess alarm transmission protocols (e.g., IP-based, radio mesh, cellular), signal propagation, bandwidth utilization, and fault tolerance across LSS and telecom networks.Integrated Systems Coordination: Ensure seamless interoperability between life safety systems, mass notification systems (MNS), building automation systems (BAS), and emergency voice/alarm communication systems (EVACS) using BIM tools such as Revit and Navisworks.Commissioning & Compliance Validation: Support functional testing, acceptance procedures, and AHJ inspections using AutoCAD, BIM platforms, and BICSI-aligned tools to verify full compliance with NFPA, IBC, and local life safety codes.Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in life safety and telecommunications engineering, with at least 2 years of experience managing or overseeing third-party design efforts.In-depth knowledge of: Life safety systems: fire alarms, suppression systems (e.g., sprinklers, clean agents), and emergency communication systems. Telecommunications systems: structured cabling, fiber optics, wireless networks, and data infrastructure.Strong familiarity with applicable codes and standards, including:NFPA 72, NFPA 101, NFPA 2001TIA/EIA standards (e.g., TIA-568)BICSI guidelinesInternational Building Code (IBC)Proficiency in reviewing and interpreting engineering documentation such as:System schematicsWiring diagramsEquipment specificationsNetwork layoutsPreferred Skills
Advanced certifications such as NICET, RCDD, or CFPS are highly desirable.Experience managing third-party designs for semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or mission-critical facilities with stringent life safety and telecom requirements.Familiarity with smart building technologies, including IoT-enabled fire detection, intelligent suppression systems, and integrated emergency communication platforms.Strong understanding of system interoperability and integration with facility-wide platforms such as SCADA, BMS, or DCIM.Experience using design and modeling tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and BICSI-aligned software.As a world leader in the semiconductor industry, Micron is dedicated to your personal wellbeing and professional growth.
