Avantor is looking for an Engineer – IT Operations. We are seeking a proactive, detail-driven engineer who thrives in dynamic, high-stakes IT environments. They should be passionate about keeping mission-critical systems running flawlessly, skilled at rapid incident response, and eager to apply automation, AI, and best practices to improve operational efficiency.
In this role, they will be the first line of defense, ensuring that Avantor’s mission-critical applications and intelligent systems operate at peak performance. Their blend of technical expertise, analytical thinking, and automation mindset will allow them to anticipate issues, act decisively during high-priority incidents, and implement solutions that prevent future disruptions.
What we’re looking for
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning or MBA.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Exposure to AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes for deployment and monitoring preferred.
Proficiency in Python, Shell, and SQL preferred for scripting and automation preferred.
Knowledge of AI/ML concepts including anomaly detection and IoT security is a must
Familiarity with ServiceNow, Jira, and Remedy for incident/change management preferred.
Basic understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls) preferred.

Technical Proficiency – Solid understanding of IT monitoring, job scheduling, and automation workflows in enterprise environments.
Tool Expertise – Familiarity with monitoring and scheduling tools such as Jenkins, NPrinting, QlikView, SolarWinds, RMJ, OpManager, PagerDuty, AWS CloudWatch, or equivalent.
Scripting & Automation – Skills in Python, Shell, and SQL, with experience in API integration for workflow optimization and alert reduction.
Process Knowledge – Understanding of ITIL-based Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes.
Cybersecurity Awareness – Knowledge of threat classification, breach monitoring, and best practices for enterprise and IoT security.
Analytical Skills – Ability to interpret monitoring data, detect anomalies, and drive rapid resolutions.
Communication & Collaboration – Effective coordination with cross-functional and global teams, with clear documentation and knowledge sharing.
Adaptability – Capacity to handle on-call responsibilities, off-hours incident response, and high-pressure situations with composure.
Problem-Solving Mindset – Strong analytical thinking to troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
Customer Focus – Commitment to delivering timely, high-quality resolutions while adhering to defined processes.
Presentation Skills – Ability to summarize, visualize, and present technical data effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
