We are looking to add an Engineering in Training I, Distribution Optimization Engineering to our team! This role is responsible for hydraulic system modeling for assigned regions of Enbridge Gas Inc. (EGI). Additionally, this role will analyze and forecast the short and long-range distribution system operating and infrastructure requirements under varying conditions for all regions within the EGI distribution system.

What You Will Do:

Responsible for the update, maintenance, and accuracy of hydraulic system models.

Identify changes in customer load profiles and assist in incorporating these changes into the load gathering program and DOE design standards, thereby ensuring accuracy of the annual simulation and forecast analysis.

Examine, design, and analyze the effects of various system alterations on system integrity and reliability, and propose new or altered infrastructure or plans.

Provide consultation to internal groups, such as Stations Engineering, Operations, Gas Control, Construction, Asset Management, Integrity, Sales, etc.

Evaluate impacts to the system when new customer connections or customer growth are identified and provide proposed solution to senior team members for review.

Support the Supervisor and other senior team members in DOE as required.

Create contingency plans and network impact reports to ensure system reliability and minimize system disruption to support emergency response and provide for review to more senior team members.

Through ongoing contact with Operations and Gas Control staff, perform simulations of operational requests (i.e., system isolations, emergency response, system set-up to aid construction projects).

Other tasks as required.

Who You Are:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field with up to 2 years of previous co-op or full-time experience in construction, field support, or project coordination.

Eligible for registration or currently registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT).

Knowledge of fluid dynamics or hydraulic modelling is an asset.

Detailed knowledge of various computer software programs including Microsoft Suite.

Engineering graduate, or Certified Engineering Technician/Technologist is considered an asset.

Project planning and project management skills are an asset.

Previous experience in an Oil and Gas Operations and/or Engineering environment is highly desired.

Proficiency with GIS, Maximo, SAP, and/or planning and records experience are considered assets.

Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license

Working Conditions:

Engineers in Training are given the opportunity to work in various departments throughout Ontario in 18 months rotations through the Engineering Rotational and Development Program. These opportunities will shape their professional development while offering consistent and comprehensive training for a Professional Engineering designation.

Once trained, this role requires Emergency On-Call support for field teams to respond to system emergencies that may occur anywhere in the EGI franchise area. Emergency response is covered on a 24-hour, 7-day rotating schedule. The EIT I, Distribution Optimization Engineering may serve as a key contact for field staff and is accountable to provide accurate record information, system analysis, customer information, system isolation information and other distribution planning information during system emergencies.
