Engineer II
Our client is seeking a **Senior Design Engineer (Engineer II)** with deep expertise in hydraulic systems and mechanical design to lead complex engineering projects from concept through production release. This position requires advanced technical skills, hands-on design experience, and the ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines to ensure product performance, reliability, and compliance with rigorous industry standards. **Key Responsibilities:** + Design, develop, and analyze hydraulic products, applying advanced knowledge of mechanics of materials, stress/strain analysis, and metal fabrication processes. + Create and refine SolidWorks 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed drawings to support manufacturing and quality requirements. + Perform engineering calculations and simulations to validate designs under demanding operating conditions. + Develop and oversee testing protocols, including prototype evaluation, validation, and documentation of results. + Prepare and submit engineering packets for governing bodies such as the Department of Defense, ABS, and DNV. + Collaborate with Sales and Operations to provide technical expertise, resolve engineering challenges, and support product launches. + Provide guidance to design staff to ensure adherence to specifications, safety standards, and cost targets. + Troubleshoot complex issues in production and field environments, including root-cause analysis and corrective action implementation. + Contribute to lean initiatives and process improvements to enhance engineering efficiency and product quality. **Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (required); advanced degree preferred. + 10+ years of engineering experience with at least 3–5 years in a manufacturing environment. + Proficiency in **SolidWorks 3D CAD** with extensive experience in large assemblies and complex design work. + In-depth knowledge of hydraulic systems, machining processes, and metal fabrication methods. + Strong background in material science, with emphasis on carbon steels and high-strength alloys. + Demonstrated ability to perform engineering calculations, FEA, and tolerance analysis to support robust product designs. + Experience preparing technical documentation for regulatory and certifying bodies. + Certified Fluid Power Hydraulic Specialist (or ability to achieve within one year). + Excellent problem-solving skills with a structured, analytical approach to complex engineering challenges.
