13139BRJob Description:Objective of the Job:
This position is an automation engineer responsible for troubleshooting, improving, and maintaining the automation system in the WTS area of the Big River Steel facility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Ensure Safety, Environmental, Quality requirements and “where applicable” ResponsibleSteel requirements are followed.
2) Work directly with all maintenance and operations personnel in a fast-paced environment to help develop a safety focused and productive team.
3) Educate others in the electrical department on the function and maintenance of the automation systems.
4) Support plant operations and work with the quality/IT departments to help attain production goals.
5) Support technicians in other areas to maintain a reliable automation system plant wide.
6) Manage the design, development, implementation, and procurement of hardware and/or software for automation improvement projects and provide support for other disciplines’ projects.
Qualifications:
1)Demonstrated safety focus and willingness to proactively apply it in a team environment
2)Quality and detail oriented with superior problem solving and communication skills
3)Highly motivated, self-directed, hands-on approach, and willing to put in extra hours or on-call support
4)Minimum 2 years of automation experience in the metals industry.
5)Experience with server and network device configuration and maintenance
6)Experience with PLC programing (Siemens preferred), data acquisition/analysis, and HMI programming
7)Windows server/system administration, MS productivity tools, TCP/IP communications
8)Computer/electrical degree, equivalent training or OTJ training is required.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Environment is typical for a steel mill production area, with extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and dusty/greasy areas. Scheduled work hours are day shift Monday through Friday.
