13161BRJob Description:Objective of the Job: Ensure the planning, development, implementation, communication, and maintenance of Big River Steel’s quality management systems, polices, documentation, data, customer- specific requirements and activities are carried out to support company goals and objectives at the site level and within the BRS Quality Teams, as assigned. Duties and Responsibilities: 1) Understanding of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality programs and “where applicable” ResponsibleSteel requirements; follow BRS directives and comply with regulatory requirements within scope of responsibility. 2) Administers aspects of BRS QMS, including MSA studies, and determines quality improvement parameters by identifying statistical methods relevant to processes. 3) Performs supplier and internal compliance audits to assure conformance with company procedures, and established standards to include production, laboratory, and support processes as required. 4) Analyzes data by completing hypothesis, normal distribution, and process capability analysis tests as needed. 5) Prepares reports and presentations by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data, and making recommendations as appropriate. 6) Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, participating in professional societies, and maintaining certifications as assigned. 7) Brainstorms ideas to create solutions for identified problems to ensure products adhere to company and industry quality standards. 8) Analyzes BRS project plans to ensure task requirements are met by assigned personnel. 9) Conducts training for QMS as required. 10) Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Qualifications: 1) Four year technical degree and minimum of one year relevant work experience preferred and/or, minimum of two years relevant industry work experience 2) Knowledge and understanding of quality management systems and auditing for ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, VDA, API, ABS, UL… 3) Good knowledge of manufacturing processes, operating measurement equipment, and process capability studies 4) Excellent written and oral communication skills; proficient in MS Office; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management, both internal and external 5) Strong attention to detail; excellent organization skills with the ability to perform multiple tasks and obtain results working within strict time frames 6) Capacity to work independently from general supervision (must be self-motivated once given direction/guidance) 7) Understanding of mini-mill processes, in-depth knowledge of flat roll steel defects with root causes, and of downstream steel processing: stamping, forming, CTL, slitting etc. is a plus 8) Understanding of specific Big River Steel processes and site quality management system is also a plus Working Conditions and Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to work in office setting with daily tasks in the mill, which could typically involve extreme environments from hot to cold. This position can require long hours, weekend, and holiday coverage to support routine responsibilities, working remotely, and travel.
