The Engineer II develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods, and plans, directs, and coordinates activities concerned with design, construction, modification, and maintenance of equipment and buildings in an industrial manufacturing facility.Job DescriptionProvides technical input, technical support, and engineering design and evaluation on facility and improvement projects. Develops plans and specifications, writes requests for quotations, evaluates bids, and oversees implementation.Trouble-shoots manufacturing problemsImproves manufacturing methods with a focus on automation and improving equipment reliabilityEvaluates and develops manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operatorsImproves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, equipment layout, and workforce utilizationAssures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processesProvides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirementsKeeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special serviceConfers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methodsLeads efforts to reduce set-up time and increase throughputPrepares capital requests and manages capital projectsMay train and oversee work of other associatesQUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – mechanical, material sciences, manufacturing or industrial preferredLicensed as a Professional Engineer or able to be licensed3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environmentTeam work, presentation, project management, and verbal/written communication skillsAbility to work effectively at all levels of the organizationAbility to lead, train, and drive changeAbility to multi-task effectively and work in a fast-paced environment
