About this position: This Engineer 6 DCL (Electrical Consultant Expert)works very closely with the Consultant Contract Services Unit, the Mechanical and Structural Design Unit, and other critical departmental units during the development of electrical consultant contracts to assist with developing electrical IDIQ contracts, task orders and supplements, and transmitting invoices for payment; staying up-to-date with the electrical unit consultant contract service procedures; coordinating the electrical, mechanical, and structural designs and other departmental units to properly develop consultant contracts for electrical tasks; and overseeing the electrical portion of consultant designed projects to ensure Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC). This technical design expertise is highly specialized and vital to maintaining electrical IDIQs, task orders and supplements for the design of electrical systems for movable bridges, roadway lighting, and facilities electrical. This expertise will be utilized on a continuous basis by the Bridge Design Section. In addition to the Minimum Qualifications below, prospective candidates must also meet the following supplemental qualifications: 1. Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering in the discipline of Electrical Engineering. 2. At least two (2) years of professional experience in consultant contract development and management for the design of electrical systems for movable bridges, roadway lighting, and building facilities. 3. At least three (3) years of professional engineering experience in for the design of electrical systems for movable bridges, roadway lighting, and building facilities. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTIONS: A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of professional engineering experience. A doctorate degree in engineering will substitute for two years of professional engineering experience. Advanced degrees will substitute for a maximum of two years of professional engineering experience. There is no substitution for licensed engineering experience. NOTES: Engineering experience gained while licensed as a professional engineer will be accepted as licensed engineering experience. Engineering experience gained after earning an ABET-accredited degree and prior to earning a professional engineer's license (e.g., as an engineer intern applicant, engineer intern, or equivalent) will be accepted as professional level engineering experience. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: + Function as the statewide expert consultant and researcher on high level design and construction projects, complex movable bridge electrical, roadway lighting, and facilities design and consultant contracts for electrical design services. + Serve as a DOTD project manager or bridge task manager to manage work efforts and fulfill contracted services. + Provide engineering expertise for critical statewide programs such as the Federal Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation Program and the Preventative Bridge Maintenance Program, the Federal Interstate Lighting Program, and State Facilities Maintenance funding. + Provide Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QA/QC) for electrical design projects developed by other section engineers. + Prepare complex bridge plans and specifications using electrical detailing and plan preparation experience with movable bridge plans, control electrical schematics, control logic, electrical details, luminaire pole layout, conduit and conductor interconnect, highway safety details, project construction phasing, etc. + Manage the electrical and illumination components of unique bridge and road rehabilitation or repair projects that include bridge and road widening, bridge re-decking, and of new bridge and road construction, etc. + Function as a lead designer and team leader for the design of complex electrical power, control, and illumination systems for movable bridges, roadways, rest areas, buildings, tunnels, pumping stations, and other transportation facilities. + Serve as project manager for projects that are primarily electrical in nature and provide project management and task management for assigned consultant projects ensuring that all projects and tasks are completed within scope, schedule and budget requirements, and at the highest quality. Compensation * This position is eligible for premium pay of $4.00 for all hours. * There is a biweekly Special Entry Rate of $3316.00 for this position.
