As Systems Engineer, you will become part of a talented team of engineers in our Shenzhen Development Center (SDC) and refer to Lighting, R&D Engineering, Harman Professional Solutions.
What You Will Do
1. The Systems Engineer is responsible for the entire product development seen from a technical engineering point of view, ensure that the product requirement specification is created and understood; the integration of systems, platforms and technologies are managed; the product development is executed with attention to interfaces and detail with internal engineers and external suppliers; the test and verification activities are sufficiently managed and evaluated; the product data and document are managed correctly enabling smooth transition into manufacturing.
2. Furthermore, Systems Engineer must associate with x-functional team in ensuring that the project is progressing according to plan, meanwhile, manage technical risk that may affect the project schedule, cost, quality performance. Include but not limit to:
Ensure that the product requirement specification is created, understood and fulfilled.Define the product/system architectures and configurations based on requirements and use cases/application environments.Ensure that product development and integration are implemented in the cooperation between internal and external stakeholders.Lead engineering risk assessment and execute proper technical risk mitigation plans.Ensure necessary and conclusive product/system design verification.Ensure compliance testing according to use-scenarios/application domain.Coordinate and prioritize test and verification activities in-house and with third-party.Communicate closely and transparently with Project Manager, Product Manager, R&D Engineers (Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Compliance, Quality, and Test), Operation Team (SQE, Manufacturing Engineers, Sourcing Managers), and JDM/ODM/OEM suppliers.Provide effort estimates for discipline related work packages to project management within product development projects.Drive products launch to the market on scope, time, cost, and quality.Support qualification assessment to external suppliers (manufacturing and JDM/ODM/OEM).Offer support to colleagues throughout the other product domain and HARMAN in general.Act as a role model across engineering disciplines; especially for peers, engineers and associate engineers.Scout for input to technology and platform roadmaps across engineering disciplines.Provide subject matter expertise to management.Generate contributions (e.g. in the form of published scientific articles) to the industry.What You Need to Be Successful
MS in engineering, e.g. Systems, Optics, or Mechanical or Electrical, and min. 10 years experience in development of electro-mechanical products.BS in engineering, e.g. Systems, Optics, or Mechanical or Electrical, and min. 12 years experience in development of electro-mechanical products.Optical/HW background, be familiar with the LED light engine, driver, control, power management; or Mechanical background, be familiar with mechanism, plastic/metal design and tooling, cable and connectors.Experience with project engineering management.Experience with test and design verification.Analytical and pro-active decision making.Positive team builder with excellent communication skills.Fluent in English speech and writing.Must be a self-starter who can take initiative and drive to successful conclusion.Comfortable with fast-paced and multitasking environment.Bonus Points if You Have
10+ years Experience in Systems engineering or Systems architecture on professional lighting - Stage lighting, Architecture lighting, industrial lighting etc.Deep and broad knowhow with handling in the professional lighting technology specific to Light Engine, Optic design, Cooling systems, Gobo/Animation/Iris/Framing/Frost, Reflector/Mirrors, Color Filter, Effect glass, Lenses, Prisms, CMY color mixing… systems integration and validation.Good knowledge in optical systems/component performance evaluation, validation, calibration and judgement.Good knowledge in professional lighting applications for touring, install with experiences in system integration.Familiar with the applications of Lighting control protocol, specific to DMX, RDM, and P3.Experience with JDM/ODM/OEM supplier management.Experience as Systems Engineer/Technical Lead or Training/Certification in Systems Engineering.Experience on development quality management and compliance & Certification requirement.Experience with products for indoor and outdoor use (application environment) and associated standards.Experience with products for rental market and fixed installation (application environment) and associated standards.Experience with professional market (BtB) and associated standards.Experience with retail market (BtC) and associated standards.What Makes You Eligible
