This position will support the ongoing compliance of AC substation assets with Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards. This role involves managing audit evidence, responding to regulatory requests, and contributing to vulnerability assessments. The position also supports the development and maintenance of the CIP-Substation Engineering program, facilitates stakeholder engagement, and assists with incident response planning. Additional responsibilities include reviewing compliance documentation, tracking self-assessments, and supporting CIP-related project work.
The ideal candidate will bring a background in electrical or computer engineering, with experience in utility operations and regulatory compliance considered an asset.
Responsibilities:
Assist in managing AC substation asset CIP regulatory compliance and ensuring the collection of periodic audit evidence. Support responses to Audit Information Requests and participate in annual vulnerability assessments. Help prioritize and manage CIP tasks using a tracking list, ensuring timely completion and accountability. Contribute to the development and maintenance of the CIP-Substation Engineering program, ensuring ongoing CIP compliance. Engage in the CIP standards change process, provide feedback to the CIP Governance Team (CGT), and monitor developments. Build and maintain relationships with AESO, TFOs, MSA, and other stakeholders to address common CIP-related issues. Participate in the development and testing of the ATCO Electric Cyber Security Incident Response Plan (CSIRP). Assist in reviewing and validating ARS Compliance Process Documents, document CIP requirements, and perform quarterly GAP assessments. Track and manage compliance, self-assessments and mitigation plans, draft Near-Miss or Self-Reports. Help plan and implement improvements, aligning them with KPIs to measure compliance effectiveness. Support CIP-related work on projects, including asset onboarding and offboarding. Review and update baseline configurations to ensure compliance. Assist in the management of change processes to maintain CIP compliance.Qualifications:
Bachelor of science degree in electrical/computer engineering from a recognized Canadian institute or equivalent. Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation with APEGA. 2-5 years of related experience in an electrical utility is preferred. Involvement with CIP compliance or regulatory programs and Protection and control experience are an asset. Excellent interpersonal skills with strong listening, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple work priorities and initiatives to meet commitments. Accuracy and attention to detail. A valid Alberta driver’s license (Class 5).What We Offer:
