As part of a data-driven organization, the primary role of the Senior Data Platform Engineer is to create and maintain dashboards and visualisations, participate in managing and optimising Snowflake databases, assisting in data platform operations and maintenance, collaborating with data engineers and analysts on data initiatives and ensuring data security, compliance, and governance.
Let’s talk about Responsibilities
Prepare visualisations and dashboards using Tableau and Power BI
Prepare data using SQL.
Assist in data platform operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Collaborate with data engineers and analysts on data initiatives and projects.
Ensure data security, compliance, and governance in Snowflake databases.
Monitor and optimize database storage, compute resources, and query performance.
Develop and maintain database documentation, including data models and architectures.
Assist in data migration, integration, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including data inconsistencies and errors.
Implement data backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
Stay up-to-date with Snowflake features, best practices, and industry trends.
Let’s talk about Qualifications and Experience
Required:
Minimum of 5 years of experience working on Enterprise Systems
Excellent knowledge in any BI tool
Proficiency in data architecture
Experience working with structured and semi-structured data architectures
Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases
Experience in manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets
Expertise in developing scalable ETLs and data processes
Proficiency in Snowflake
Exposure to other database systems
Experience with AWS cloud services, including S3, DMS-Batch/CDC, EC2, Lambda, IAM, SQS, SNS etc.
Exposure to Terraform, Airflow and Job Schedular
Good understanding of shell scripts
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Biology, Computer Science, or other relevant field
Good knowledge knowledge in Tableau or PowerBI
Experience working with offshore teams
Exposure to Oracle or SQLServer DBA activities (Understand database security)
Good understanding of Agile methodologies and ways of working.
Good understanding of tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
Exposure to Hadoop Ecosystem preferably on AWS/EMR, NoSQL-based, SQL-like technologies
Experience with Data Science tools & technologies on AWS Cloud
