The team is building a next generation end-to-end data discovery platform and supports a wide range of lab service center applications for the large R&D community. We leverage cutting edge app development technologies and cloud infrastructure to build this platform. We are looking for talented software developers to join an agile team to deliver quality software with consistency and velocity. 

 

Responsibilities:

• Work in an Agile software development environment; contribute to scrum huddles, work tasks assigned to develop functionality, and report on progress daily.

• Develop applications using cutting-edge and strategically defined technologies/frameworks (ex. JavaScript, VueJS, Typescript, HTML5, CSS, etc.) to support applications leveraged within the RD&E community.

• Work with customers to get business requirements, design solutions, and help develop and review solutions/enhancements

• Participate and develop automated testing for developed user interfaces (UI). 

• Document end to end through development process (ex. Test scripting/results, design documentation, technical support documents, etc.).

• Collaborate with platform and product teams.

• Provide live demos of in process and developed-completed functionality.

• Software development support of Corning products at R&D stage

 

Travel Requirements (please note if international): 

Less than 15% Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 8:00 – 5:00; Monday – Friday.

 

Required Skills (These are skills that candidates MUST possess) 

• Foundational & functional knowledge of algorithms, data structures and design principles with a proven ability to design and build code.

• Experience working with software development tools such as git and ability to leverage branching techniques. 

• Experience with next generation software methodologies such as Agile and tools such as Gitlab DevOps, CI/CD and other best practices.

• Software development experience using modern web development languages, tools, and frameworks (ex. JavaScript, VueJS, Typescript, Storybook, HTML5, CSS, Vuetify etc.).

• Working knowledge of Python and related frameworks like FastAPI

• Experience in working with design teams / customers to translate wireframes into a scalable front-end architecture.

• Experience with UI Test Automation frameworks and MVC frameworks.

• Knowledge of front-end software design patterns (e.g., asynchronicity, data binding, modules, promises) and experience in working with them.

• Experience interacting with web APIs/micro services & developing APIs including GraphQL technology.

• Able to work in a fast-paced product development environment and have the ability to give and receive feedback.

• Maturity of approach to problem solving and troubleshooting; proactive problem solver with attention to detail and methodical approach to software engineering.

• Collaborative and able to openly engage with colleagues from diverse cultures, disciplines and backgrounds to achieve project goals. Desired Skills (These are skills that would be nice for candidates to possess) 

• Proven ability to learn new technologies to build data-intensive applications that meet customer requirements and needs.

• Experience with data visualization tools such as Plotly/ChartJS. 

• Strong math and science skills as well interpersonal, presentation, and leadership qualities to interact with various stakeholders & customers; live demo experience.

• Experience working with UI/UX design and QA teams.

• Experience with Generative AI based technologies and their usage.

 

Education and Experience (minimum required for consideration) 

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field

• 1+ years of experience in a front-end application development Soft Skills (Communication/Team/Leadership)

• Excellent communication skills (verbal or written); good presentation skills

• Adept at working in environments with significant ambiguity and an ability to explore and drive to clear requirements

• Able to interact effectively with customers and staff

• Driven, extremely result-oriented, and passionate about delivering high quality SW products.

 

 

This position does not support immigration sponsorship.  

The range for this position is  $72,283.00 - $99,390.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
