The Engine Platform Engineer will be responsible for leading & delivering requisitions for Engine technology & power solutions as a platform leader engineer in region. The Engine Platform – Engineer will support requisitions, manufacturing & validation support, reliability issue resolutions, cost out/margin enhancement, and NPI activities related to these products.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Serve as the single point of contact in region from engine group for all requisitions & along with the ownership of engine platform.
+ Anticipate, develop, and apply new technologies to current and future locomotive products to promote competitive differentiation in reliability, cost & performance.
+ Ensure viability and defend recommendations in program and design reviews.
+ Understand customer impact and major ‘pain points’ to focus reliability improvement efforts on the highest priority issues.
+ Provide engineering and technical guidance to cross functional teams working on the projects in support of manufacturing, overhaul, reliability, cost out, and new product introduction etc.
+ Interface closely with internal and external stakeholders, manage relationship and do proper communication and interpretation of requirements.
+ Participate in field test and validation.
**Requirements:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
+ Solid technical understanding of reciprocating engine technologies
+ Experience in reciprocating engine system application and/or component design
+ Strong program management abilities in a matrix environment
+ Manage multiple programs/requests simultaneously
+ Ability to formulate strategies with Senior Engineering leaders, Principal Engineers & Sub-system managers and help meeting business milestones
+ Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI), Supplier & customer interactions, field failure analysis and reliability improvements.
+ Effective communication & presentation skills
+ Ability to work with cross-functional teams
+ Strong oral and written communication skills
+ Strong business analysis, problem solving, and strategy development skills
+ Ability to interact at all levels of the organization and with other Wabtec businesses
