Engine Calibration Warranty Engineer

 

The Engine Warranty Engineer is responsible for leading the resolution of warranty issues associated with the Engine Calibration, DTC’s, various engine components (O2 sensors, EGR’s, evaporative emissions systems) resulting in hardware/sensor replacements. This includes addressing concerns due to hardware, Software / Calibration, and system interactions with strong focus on problem-solving, root cause analysis, and validation. This role involves a proactive approach to addressing quality concerns, driving improvements, and ensuring that warranty-related issues are resolved efficiently. The Engine Warranty Engineer works closely with dealers, suppliers, and internal teams to confirm issues, propose solutions, and track progress in delivering resolutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in powertrain systems, data analysis, and root cause investigation, with a passion for continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.  

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

Analyze warranty data and field reports to identify trends and recurring issues related to engine and transmission calibration.  Collaborate with calibration, diagnostics, and validation teams to investigate root causes of warranty claims.  Lead cross-functional reviews to develop and implement corrective actions and calibration updates.  Support the development and deployment of software updates to address field issues.  Interface with manufacturing, service engineering, and suppliers to ensure robust resolution of calibration-related concerns.  Monitor post-fix performance to validate effectiveness of implemented solutions.  Perform deep dive analysis of product failures to determine root causes, collaborating with cross-functional teams (product development, supplier quality, and manufacturing) to implement corrective actions. Accountable for proposing solutions, validating their effectiveness, and tracking progress to ensure timely resolution  Manage escalation of issues as needed. Perform vehicle reviews as needed at dealers, QEC (Quality Engineering Center), and assembly plants to identify and confirm the root cause.  Collaborate with Stellantis and Supplier Plants to establish and validate containment actions. Ensure that appropriate service actions are defined and implemented to address warranty issues (including Parts Purge, Service Bulletins, Tech Tips, Rapid Service Updates, etc.). Ensure that lessons learned from current warranty claims are fed forward to prevent similar issues on future vehicle models.  Regularly report on warranty-related quality issues, progress on GIMs, and the status of resolutions at required quality and leadership meetings.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from accredited University  5+ years of strong technical background in automotive engineering, quality, and/or manufacturing  Strong understanding of internal combustion engines, transmission systems, and vehicle control strategies.  Proficiency with calibration tools (e.g., ETAS INCA, ATI Vision), data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Excel, Python), and diagnostic protocols (e.g., UDS, CAN).  Experience with root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa, Is, Is-Not).  Proven ability to solve problems using advanced root cause analysis tools and techniques  Strong analytical skills to identify patterns, trends with data analytics tools  Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively suppliers, dealers, internal teams and all levels of management  Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with engineering, manufacturing, and supplier quality  Strong customer-oriented mindset  Capable of managing multiple tasks and projects, tracking progress, and ensuring timely delivery of solutions  Knowledgeable of vehicle communication systems (OBD, CAN , LIN)  Experience in Powertrain Control solution development (powertrain control algorithms, On-board Diagnostics/ OBD, embedded software)  Experience taking vehicle logs, flashing vehicle
