Your role and responsibilities
We are looking for an Energy Transition Specialist at ABB Oy, Energy Industries Division in either Helsinki, Pirkkala or Vaasa. In this role, you will be working as an Energy Transition Specialist driving our effort, enabling a low carbon society and sustainability via digital offering portfolio.
Be a part of the energy transition revolution through digital solutions! We are looking for an entrepreneurial individual with a passion for, and some experience in, areas related to topics such as: Sector Coupled Virtual Power Plants (VPP), Energy management system (EMS), Distributed energy resources (DER), Hydrogen and Power to X solutions (PtX) or Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS).
You will be also working with optimizing software solutions, focusing on API management, database integration, and Linux systems, Azure cloud platform, and container technologies, equipped to handle industrial protocols and cloud deployed systems. The specific responsibilities can be adjusted according to interest and competence, but the role will focus on technical tasks and solutions working together with colleagues, Finnish and international customers and vendors.

You will mainly be accountable for:
Being the engineer responsible for solutions at early-stage customer engagements, ranging from conceptual design to leading feasibility and FEED-studies
Being the key-player in positioning ABB and delivering value early on with technical reviews and discussions with customers, partners, subcontractors and vendors
Making technical recommendations in design and engineering, to ensure all actions are completed according to process requirements and standards
Ensuring speed with agility and DevOps practices in customer engagement for continuous establishment of new businesses and working collaboratively with sales colleagues responsible for Energy Transition Market
Qualifications for the Role
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field, such as engineering
Experience and prior knowledge of the energy industry or district heating processes
Knowledge of electricity markets, optimization and scalability and previous experience in optimization software
Creative thinking, curiosity, and problem-solving skills, achieved through cooperating with a broad range of stakeholders to deliver complex projects
Strong self-initiative attitude and highly comfortable in operating and delivering results in new, ambiguous and fast changing environments with strong customer-centric vision
Excellent project coordination skills with good communication, influencing and collaboration abilities
Fluency in Finnish and good English skills, Swedish is an advantage
Practical knowledge in API integration, AI, database management, IT security protocols and standards as well as industrial communication protocols are seen as big advantages
