Therefore, we’re looking for you to support this ambition in North America. The Energy Transition Analyst/Specialist will support Rabobank and our clients in the energy transition journey. You will be operating in a dynamic, demanding, and ‘start-up’ like environment. Flexibility, self-discipline, analytical skills, creativity, and a co-operative and proactive attitude will be key for success in this role. Rabobank’s energy transition scope spans a wide range of sectors and technologies ranging from renewable energy generation to electricity grids, storage, and CCS.

You and Your Job

The Energy Transition Analyst/Specialist will be part of the RaboResearch department and will play an essential role in realizing Rabobank’s Energy Transition ambitions. The research scope for the NY-based team is linked to the regional strategy in in North America, while the analysts also work closely with the European-based team members and many other parts of the bank.

Rabobank’s Energy Transition footprint in North America is currently focused on technologies driving electrification of the economy such as wind, solar, battery storage, and grids, plus renewable fuels. Future growth is anticipated in carbon capture, data centers, waste to energy, and other subsectors.

The main task of the Energy Transition Analyst/Specialist is to become a go-to person for questions related to the energy transition in general and to the themes, technologies (e.g., solar, wind, data centers) or topics (e.g., CCS, waste to energy, etc.) that the person will focus on. The more specific tasks can broadly be summarized as:

Acts as an Energy Transition generalist

Conducts research and builds expertise and views in the designated focus areas

Organizes knowledge sharing internally, for example workshops

Provides commercial support. This can take on many forms, for example: review business plans, present to clients, join client meetings as an expert, join deal teams, support senior management

Provides support to the credit risk process

(Pro)actively participates on energy transition platforms and in relevant networks

Develops and utilizes his/her existing and future network to help speed up the development of knowledge and to generate leads for the bankers

Supports building Rabobank’s brand as the Banker of the Energy Transition, for example through publishing thought-provoking articles, presenting at conferences, engaging with the media, profiling on LinkedIn

Job Responsibilities

Combine analytics and creativity to generate thought-leading insights that create impact for our clients and key stakeholders

Deal with complex matters and turn them into simple takeaway messages

Support colleagues from across Rabobank, up to the managing board level, in critical decision-making

Represent Rabobank with external stakeholders, at events, and in (social) media to position Rabobank as the Banker of the Energy Transition

Your Promise to Us:

To be considered for the Energy Transition Analyst/Specialist at RaboResearch role, you must have:

Bachelor or Master’s degree in a relevant field like public administration, (environmental) law, environmental science, electrical, chemical, or mechanical engineering

5 - 10+ years of relevant work experience

Experience with research or consulting in a policy, academic, business or consulting environment

A proven track record/expertise or strong interest in relevant topics such as energy transition, electrification and decarbonization trends; relevant policies, laws, and regulations; wind and solar generation technologies; and/or CC(U)S

Having a strong network with public and private institutions

Ability to understand and analyze complex systems and processes

Creative; is able to deliver creative insights, not just standard research

Flexible and agile, and a team player

Self-starter mentality, a strong level of self-discipline and motivation

Co-operative and proactive attitude, is a team player

Ambitious and a fast learner

Ability to thrive in a complex and international context

Strong interpersonal and team player skills

Strong communicator in writing: articles, social media. In presentations for C-suite and large audiences

Ability to travel regionally up to 15%

Salary Expectations:

Grade 9 Target Hiring Range: $115,000.00 - $185,000.00

Grade 10 Target Hiring Range: $140,000.00 - $230,000.00

This position is subject to the terms of [RAF/Rabobank/RDS]’s compensation plans and policies. It is anticipated that the position will pay within the target hiring range. The range is reflective of the desired primary physical work location and may be adjusted outside of the projected range based on geographical differentiation if the actual work location of the hired candidate differs from the desired primary location, or for other lawful reasons. Further, all full-time regular positions include all other benefits provided to [RAF/Rabobank/RDS] employees, including healthcare benefits, 401k matching, vacation, sick leave, parental leave, possible discretionary bonuses and all other benefits that are all governed by and subject to ERISA plan documents and eligibility.
