Energy Projects Manager, LatAm, AWS Infra Energy Team
Amazon.com
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensures our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
Amazon is looking for a results-oriented individual to join the AWS Infrastructure Energy Team. In this role, you will support AWS’s infrastructure expansion by leading multiple large-scale power infrastructure projects across AWS regions, with a focus on Latin America. You will manage utility interactions, collaborate with internal stakeholders including engineering, real estate, and planning teams, and manage relationships with external stakeholders such as utilities, EPC vendors and/or Owner's Engineer to deliver the electric infrastructure to serve AWS data centers, and grow AWS’s diverse, reliable, and low-cost energy supply. You will work as part of an integrated team to implement energy program requirements and deliver tangible reliability and cost saving results.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong energy and project management background that enables them to engage with both internal business partners and external energy stakeholders. They will have experience working with local utilities to develop, contract, and deliver MV and HV power infrastructure. They will demonstrate an ability to think strategically about our business and technical challenges, and have a skill-set to drive tactical execution of contracts, energy initiatives, and team goals.
Key job responsibilities
• Deliver a portfolio of in-flight MV and HV power infrastructure projects to interconnect AWS data centers to the electric grid.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders including power utilities, regulators, suppliers, EPC contractors, and consultants to ensure on-time and on-budget MV & HV transmission works and substation delivery.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Planning, Real Estate, Design, Procurement, Construction, Operations, Finance, and Commissioning teams to coordinate project activities and resolve any issues that may arise during project execution.
• Manage capital budgets for electrical infrastructure and energy projects, and identify and develop innovative cost-savings projects and initiatives related to energy infrastructure and supply.
• Provide regular project updates to senior management and stakeholders, including progress reports, financial updates, region strategy documents, and risk assessments.
• Undertake power due diligence for new or proposed data center sites to check power availability and feasibility.
• Work with utility regulators to develop policies and guidelines that enable broader AWS strategies and objectives
