Chevron is accepting online applications for the position **Energy Optimization Engineer** through **August 6th, 2025** at **11:59 p.m.** ( **P** **ST** ).
This position collaborates closely with Operations and Process Engineering to minimize energy operating expenses and greenhouse gas emissions throughout the refinery. Key responsibilities include developing and overseeing the use of energy dashboards, KPIs, and leading energy audits. The role serves as a liaison with planning, projects teams, and engineering ensuring that utility and energy balance considerations, along with efficiency upgrades, are integrated into investment decisions.
**Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:**
+ Lead the refinery in the optimization of energy related opportunities for the refinery and a key partner driving competitive performance.
+ Identify, advocate, and drive implementation for new energy-efficient technology utilization
+ Mentor utilities and process engineers on energy optimization and GHG reduction, supporting less experienced Energy Optimization Engineers at other Chevron refineries, and developing and maintaining the refinery Energy Business Plan and budget
+ Develop, build, and maintain tools for energy optimization visibility. This includes fuel gas and steam balance plans for process plant shutdowns, including recommendations should utility systems be unable to support planned activities. The role will also coordinate cogeneration operations and electricity issues.
**Required Qualifications:**
+ B.S. Chemical Engineering **OR** applicable work experience (minimum of 10 years) in refinery operations, refinery / petrochemical process control, and/or refinery or petrochemical process engineering.
+ Knowledge of process engineering fundamentals, including design, optimization, and support of daily operations.
+ Strong technical/analytical skills, with a proven record of innovative problem solving and proactive system improvement.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Possess a strong understanding of, and experience with refinery processes value drivers for a refinery
+ Experience with technical process optimization, unit troubleshooting, equipment sizing, leading teams, presentations to peers and stakeholders, developing reports and tools to drive improvements, refinery economics, mentoring
+ Strong, fundamental understanding of refinery or hydrocarbon processing and equipment.
+ Experience working with facility operations personnel, particularly console operators.
+ Ability to create and promote an environment of trust, teamwork, and inclusiveness through actions and behaviors.
+ Demonstrated ability to build team culture and to work effectively and collaboratively in a multi-discipline, multi-function, and multi-cultural environment.
+ Demonstrate a strong understanding of, and focus on, personal and process safety.}

+ The anticipated salary range for this position is $133,600 – $230,900 . The selected candidate’s compensation will be determined based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.
