Energy Management Specialist
Support Center - Irving

The Energy Management Specialist is the primary contact for our energy management vendors, as well as on-site technicians, and is responsible for monitoring, adjusting, and troubleshooting EMS systems, as well as dispatching and working with technicians to resolve on-site issues. The person in this role also supports the Director in identifying opportunities to improve energy performance, as well as with special projects including HVAC replacements, lighting projects, and additional new technologies to improve Michaels overall energy efficiency.

Oversee Energy Management System (EMS) program to ensure comfortable store environments. Works with partners to ensure understating of energy use through various reporting methods.Oversee maintenance and replacement of HVAC systems, working directly with vendors and technicians and supporting store teams.Researches and finds new technologies that will improve energy efficiencies and propose guidelines and measures to capture energy savings. Communicate measures to key stakeholders through literature, presentations, and other methods.Develops and/or maintains analysis that document current purchases and forecast future needs and costs associated with energy supplies/energy attributes; analyzes future needs and develops purchase options/alternative strategies to meet needs; presents options and recommendations to management.Supports new and relo store initiatives related to HVAC, utilities, and energy, and assists Director with other special projects

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experienceEngineering, Business, Technical, or other applicable discipline

Minimum Special Certifications or Technical Skills

Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and mechanical system training a plusMicrosoft Office with strong Excel skillset

Minimum Type of Experience the Job Requires

3+ years - experience in energy and utilities, multisite experience preferredExperience working with a vendor teamFacilities and energy program experienceHVAC technical expertise a plus
