What is an EMT?: An Emergency Medical Technicians-Basic (EMT-B) respond to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured, and to transport the patient to a medical facility, as well as interfacility transfers. After receiving the call for service, the EMT-B responds to the address or location given, using the most expeditious route, depending on traffic and weather conditions. The EMT-B must observe traffic ordinances and regulations concerning emergency vehicle operation. Earn a rate of pay while in the EMT Academy: $15.50 per hour Comprehensive benefit package – including 401k, paid time off, medical, dental, and more EMT-B Academy is: + 8-week EMT-B certification class, which qualifies the employee to take the New York State Department of Health Emergency Medical Technician Exam. + There is no cost for the class; all books, fees and uniforms are paid for by Monroe Ambulance + Upon successful completion of the class, all tests and state certification, the employee will be transferred into an EMT position with an increase to the EMT compensation rate **Note: A one-year employment contract is required upon acceptance into the academy program. *Additional Salary Detail:The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job.
