Job Summary
Serves as a driver/operator of EMS wheelchair vans to transport medical patients to and from hospitals, facilities, and clinics. Responsible for transporting patients within a 2-3 hour range of the hospital as needed.
Essential Functions of the Role
Transports patients via wheelchair to and from the hospital in a safe mannerMaintains vehicles in operating condition and ensures both inside and outside of the vehicles are neat and cleanDocuments transport appropriately and immediately to ensure accurate billing to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insuranceCommunicates discrepancies at time of pick up and during transports to dispatchEnsures patients meet transport criteria according to Medicare/Medicaid regulations prior to transporting patientAccurately matches the patient identifiers to their paperwork for transport to ensure they are transporting the correct patientTransports Dialysis patients to and from hospital and Dialysis Clinics across the regionSafely loads and unloads patients in wheelchairs utilizing mechanical lift from the vehicle including patients requiring oxygenKey Success Factors
Must have a good/safe driving record with no moving violations documented within a one-year periodMust be able to drive for extended periods of timeGood communication skillsAble to document in the electronic medical record system for EMS billing captureBelonging Statement

EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED EquivalentEXPERIENCE - Less than (1) one year of experience.CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION
