The Substance Abuse Treatment Coordinator is a key member of the EMS team responsible for the development, expansion, and oversight of the department’s Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program. This position ensures the program's successful integration across all medic units, manages compliance with grant and regulatory requirements, and fosters collaborative relationships with both internal and external partners to improve substance abuse treatment outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Program Expansion and Oversight Facilitate the expansion of the MAT program to all medic units, ensuring alignment with operational and clinical goals. Monitor and track field induction data related to Suboxone administrations. Develop and implement strategies to incorporate the substance abuse treatment program into the department's Mobile Integrated Health program as regulations evolve. Education and Training Provide continuing education and training to field staff on substance abuse treatment protocols, including Suboxone administration and follow-up care. Ensure field staff are equipped with up-to-date knowledge of best practices and compliance requirements related to MAT. Quality Assurance and Compliance Ensure quality and compliance of substance abuse treatment protocols, policies, and procedures. Develop and modify policies related to substance abuse treatment to continuously improve program quality. Data Management and Reporting Manage grant requirements, including data collection, analysis, and reporting. Track patient outcomes and follow-up data in collaboration with external departments. Collaboration and Partnerships Serve as the liaison between EMS and external departments, including Health Plex, John Brooks Recovery Center, and Bridge Clinic. Coordinate follow-up and outcome tracking with addiction medicine partners.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s in healthcare or social work required. Master’s degree in healthcare or MSW preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Certified as an EMT, Paramedic, or RN preferred. Current BLS, ACLS, PALS or PEPP Certification preferred. Driver’s License required. Instructor status in CPR, ACLS, PALS and PHTLS preferred. ASAM certification preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in addiction medicine. Exceptional organizational and project management skills required. Proficient in data management. Effective interpersonal, and communication skills required. Knowledge of state regulations regarding substance abuse treatment and mobile integrated health.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, blood borne pathogens, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. This position requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping and crouching a majority of the workday. This position requires pushing and pulling equipment up to 20 pounds and lifting up to 100 pounds with assistance.
