Position Summary:
The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Education Coordinator is responsible for the education and training activities offered by Rice EMS. This includes training EMS providers at the First Responder, EMT, and Advanced EMT level, as well as overseeing the continuing education offered by REMS.
The EMS Education Coordinator will ensure a team approach and customer focus in the delivery of the services linking directly to the strategic goals of the organization to the day-to-day operations of EMS. The EMS Education Coordinator assures the EMS operates in a manner to accomplish its mission and meet the service expectations and needs of the Rice University Community.
Workplace Requirements:
This position is exclusively on-site, necessitating all duties to be performed in person and on campus. Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change.
Hiring Range: $72,100 to $80,400, commensurate with experience and qualifications. *Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime.

Bachelor’s degree In lieu of the education requirement, additional related experience, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year for year basis may be substituted 3 years of experience as a clinical leader in a prehospital setting, and/or experience as an EMS educatorLicenses:

Recruits, trains, and supervises paid instructional staff for EMS certification courses offered by Rice EMS Mentors EMS student leaders in education policies and practices. Obtains and maintains qualifications as a Texas EMS Instructor and an EMS course coordinator. Evaluates the performance of instructional team to ensure functions and duties are performed in a courteous and professional manner and to the highest ethical standards. Oversees Rice EMS’ licensure as an advanced initial education program, and a continuing education program Oversees clinical scheduling for EMS certification courses Maintains current clinical training agreements, and develops new sites, for ambulance and emergency room rotations for EMS students Oversees and maintains clinical training equipment used during instruction Serves as an EMS supervisor for large-scale campus events Administers emergency medical care to sick or injured persons in a pre-hospital setting Operates prehospital medical equipment Assesses nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures Represents REMS on the Crisis Management Team, performing duties related to EMS and other duties as assigned. Maintains and oversees REMS’ education spending and budgets in a financially responsible manner. Pursues grant opportunities. Mentors student leaders in department management concerning responsible financial practices.
