Employee Benefit Practice Leader

The Employee Benefits (EB) Practice Leader position is the “face” of Employee Benefits for HUB New Mexico and is critical to the company's ongoing success and efficiency in sales, customer service and marketing. As the EB Practice Leader, you're responsible for the strategic oversight of product offerings, implementation, new business development, account retention, and the successful mentoring and development of our EB staff.  The position has a “hard line” reporting structure to the Area President-New Mexico.  In addition, there is a “dotted line” reporting structure to the West Region EB President.

Responsibilities

Fully represent the entire HUB value proposition

Lead and manage the employee benefits practice for all of New Mexico

Provide a vision and plan for sustained profitable growth of the practice throughout New Mexico

Provide thought leadership for technical aspects of Employee Benefits

Implement best practices for account stewardship

Be responsible for recruiting, onboarding, training, and managing the EB service team and EB focused producers

Work with, lead, and manage the New Mexico EB Leadership team to achieve all practice results aligned with HUB’s people and culture initiatives

Communicate National initiatives to field operations in New Mexico

Attend and serve as the HUB New Mexico representative at the EB Leadership Meetings

Work with other EB leaders in the West Region and nationally to determine appropriate strategy

Work with the HUB regional Chief Sales Officer (CSO) and Area President to maximize EB sales and cross sell opportunities in the region

Create positive synergy with the Property and Casualty, Personal Lines, and Retirement practices to encourage two way cross-selling

Work with individual Producers to increase revenue and retention

Work with EB teams to ensure “best practices” are in place in the state

Participate monthly New Mexico Leadership Team meetings

Provide a vision and growth plan for how the company will remain profitable and how your team will expand its capabilities in group medical, ancillary lines, and special programs

Establish a positive service culture dependent on maximizing the strengths of each team member

Influence and support customer and prospective relationship development, including serving as an executive sponsor to our key accounts

Develop long-lasting relationships with carriers, key vendor partners and other stakeholders and interfacing as needed to grow business and resolve issues

Lead innovation and strategy for the overall practice to ensure continuous development of EB products and service offerings aligned with identified needs and future needs of EB customers

Engage corporate resources to support departments including sales and marketing, information technology, accounting and finance, human resources, and facilities management

Work with the regional executive team to identify possible agency acquisitions

Support the development and management of the budget for the EB practice

Influence and support strategic planning initiatives including producer and personnel development

Accountable for growth and retention

Drive consistent and predictable long term, profitable client relationships

Assist in developing sales and marketing strategies along with communications to optimize HUB’s position in the marketplace

Champion the internal and external HUB “brand" and positioning in the market

Positively and proactively represent HUB in meetings, seminars, trade shows, networking events, and in community events/boards/committees

Qualifications

10+ years of experience within employee benefits

Hands-on manager; enjoys mentoring and direct management of staff; also, desire to work alongside producers in the field helping to originate new business through your personal networks and close accounts in team-based sales

Can institute effective employee development procedures which address training, processes and procedures, E&O avoidance, continuing education, recruiting, hiring and disciplinary actions

Understand ways to distinguish insurance brokerages through customer service, technology and special product offerings, association marketing, client communication strategies and alternative funding programs

Must have willingness to partner with other business lines to maximize results for the region

A consultative, positive and resourceful approach to dealing with prospect, clients and associates

Strong Financial Statement and Budget Literacy to not only support the management of profit and loss, but to communicate our value to financially minded customers and vendors

Strong visibility within the HR and benefits community

Highly developed organization and time management skills

Travel varies. Up to 25% locally and may have several occasions that require travel to various US states

Excellent listening skills

Strong written and verbal communications

Strong degree of self-motivation

Demonstrated ability to lead/motivate others

Is influential and persuasive with the ability to partner across HUB and work well with segment and other channel leaders

Department Business Operations

Required Experience: 7-10 years of relevant experience

Required Travel: Up to 25%

Required Education: High school or equivalent
