Job OverviewThe Employee and Labor Relations Business Partner supports all functions within the Market Unit by providing direction and assistance in the application of required HR processes and objectives for all managers and employees within the assigned geographical region. The ER, LR Business Partner performs all activities related to proactive and reactive ER, LR support to include but not limited to policy interpretation and guidance, legal compliance, Collective Bargaining Agreement Management, Employee Relations training, investigations, negotiations, teammate engagement, grievance, and arbitration processes. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who can relate to individuals at all levels within the organization across multiple geographies. Duties & Responsibilities Proactive Employee Relations: Serves as a Cultural Advocate fostering our purpose and values Conducts consistent facility visits promoting positive employee engagement and facilitates and schedules Employee Engagement sessions Develops and executes Employee Engagement session action plans in partnership with operational leadership and facilitates positive employee relations and development training Reactive Employee Relations: Coaches and counsels leaders on performance management for non-exempt (union and non-union) and exempt Serves as a liaison for policy interpretation and guidance for non-exempt (union and non-union) and exempt teammates Performs Case Management System maintenance and Administration Reactive Employee Relations: Assists with general employee inquiries such as compensation questions, payroll errors, and benefits questions Conducts Employee Investigations, both union, and non-union Assists and responds to employee relations issues such as employee compliance, harassment allegations, EEOC and NLRB complaints Labor Relations: Provides guidance and interpretation on Collective Bargaining Agreements within assigned territory Ensures compliance with all provisions within the Collective Bargaining Agreements Manages grievances, assists with arbitrations Lead and facilitate first chair contract negotiations process, from preparation to execution Acts as a liaison between the Union business agents and Company representatives Conducts stay and exit interviews, and analyzes data providing recommendations related to problematic trends Responds to teammates’ issues and complaints to protect the organization’s general liability interests Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Labor Relations experience preferred (i.e., contract management and negotiations, grievance and arbitration experience) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Maintain a high level of confidentiality Self-directing Able to work with minimal supervision Multi-task oriented Strong organizational skills Professional conduct and appearance Maintain composure in stressful situations Sense of urgency with all levels of management, employees Computer, and word processing skills including Microsoft Office Good Driving Record Equipment: Laptop, Printer, Copier, Scanner, Fax, Smart Phone, Personal Vehicle Working Conditions: Normal office environment, some warehouse and manufacturing plant exposure (noisy conditions, extreme temperatures) Must be able and willing to work a flexible schedule, requiring up to 50% overnight travel in a calendar year, as well as some very early and late hours Physical Effort: Nominal physical effort It is necessary to walk through a variety of facilities including Sales Branches, Manufacturing Facilities, Warehouses, Fleet and Equipment Services Centers Ability to be able to lift 25 pounds Ability and willingness to travel as necessary by car and, or plane Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED Knowledge acquired through 3 to up to 5 years of related work experience Preferred Qualifications Four Year Degree in Human Resources or related field Valid Driver’s License SPHR, PHR, or SHRM-CP Certification Work EnvironmentWork environment will vary (Sales Branches, Manufacturing Facilities, Warehouses, Fleet and Equipment Service Centers, etc.)
Will require 75% travel within the market unit (primarily Ohio and West Virgina, however travel outside of these areas could be expected)
