**Minimum qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
+ 7 years of experience in policy analysis, working on international or technology policy issues.
+ 7 years of experience working on at least one of the aforementioned regions (Africa, the Caucasus, Central Asia, Israel, the Middle East, Russia, and Turkey) within government, private sector, think tanks or relevant industry associations.
**Preferred qualifications:**
+ Master's degree in international affairs, international economics, or a Juris Doctor (JD), or an equivalent practical experience.
+ Experience working with international teams and a variety of stakeholders, and in executing strategies to deliver exceptional solutions.
+ Knowledge of public, technical policy issues, processes and institutions.
+ Ability to be a team player with a sense of humor and exercise good judgment in a rapidly changing and sometimes stressful environment.
+ Ability to multi-task and be proactive.
+ Excellent investigative, verbal communication and writing skills.
Google Client Services, an entity within the Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team, manages the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy in the United States. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, hear carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspectives with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the Internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.
Based in Washington, DC, the International Government Affairs (IGA) team focuses on building relationships with foreign policy leaders to advance global technical policy. The IGA team supports the company in pursuing business development opportunities and resolving complex global policy challenges. The IGA team's expertise is structured in two ways: (1) Regional Specialists engage with Washington, DC-based stakeholders to address policy issues that affect Google's operations in specific regions around the world; and (2) International Organization Leads direct Google's engagement with key international bodies such as the United Nations (UN), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and others.
In this role, you will build relationships with foreign policy leaders and advance global technical policy. You will represent Google's interests before US policymakers, foreign embassies, and third-party groups.You will support teams across specific regions, advising on public policy, engagement strategies, and geopolitical risks. You will be responsible for strategic partnerships, executive engagement for summits and delegations, and advocating for Google Cloud priorities.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $138,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. **Responsibilities:**
+ Support Google teams working on Emerging Markets by representing Google’s interests before US policymakers, foreign embassies in DC, and third-party groups. Work closely with internationally-focused trade associations, think tanks, and other influential opinion formers in technical policy.
+ Partner with Google’s local leads in Emerging Markets, identifying and executing on opportunities in DC that support local government policy and business priorities.
+ Advise government affairs teams, and other cross-functional partners on public policy and engagement strategies for DC-based campaigns related to business decisions and escalations tied to Emerging Markets countries.
+ Project manage Google’s participation in bilateral and regional summits. Design programs and drive impact from participation of executives. Drive impactful engagements between Google executives and visiting foreign delegations.
+ Liaise directly with regional Google Cloud colleagues to advance and unlock priorities to advance Google Cloud’s business interests.
