Emerging Contaminant Research Aide IV

   

The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a Research Aide to join the team in Albany, NY. A successful candidate will be community-oriented, passionate about drinking water quality and/or community health, have strong organizational and communication (oral and written) skills, and be skilled at working independently.

The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Compiling and formatting existing and incoming dataConducting fieldwork to sample environmental media (soil, sediments, surface water, groundwater) and support logistics of said fieldworkReviewing relevant literatureReviewing and evaluating reports and invoices for completeness and accuracyCoordinating contract managementOverseeing contractors/labs activities and reportsSupporting the writing of peer reviewed papers.

Required Qualifications

Associate’s degree in and 2-4 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experienceFamiliarity with creating and maintaining mapping and GIS projects for internet and internal useStrong oral and written communication skills.Ability to understand scientific and health concepts, and communicate science with nonexperts.Ability to work towards multiple objectives simultaneously.Ability to work independently, and to serve as both a leader and a follower.Well organized and able to maintain large datasets.Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with tribal communities is not required, but will be considered favorably.

Important Details about the Position

This is a hybrid position located in Albany, NY with the expectation of 50% onsite 50% remote following the initial training period which will be 100% onsite.This is a full-time three-year term position with potential for extension contingent upon funding and performance.We are unable to provide Visa sponsorship, now or in the future, for this position.Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position.
