Responsibilities
+ Receive and Dispatch Emergency Calls: Handle emergency calls (police, fire, medical, hazmat, rescue, etc.) via various communication channels including telephone, TDD, radio, fire alarm system, and computerized alarm system.
+ Coordinate Emergency Response: Dispatch firefighting apparatus, ambulances, rescue equipment, first aid services, and police to emergency situations within Installation boundaries.
+ Operate Radio Equipment: Utilize radio equipment in accordance with Federal Communication Commission (FCC) regulations and local emergency procedures.
+ Maintain Records: Keep detailed logs of calls, maintain office files, compile statistical data reports, charts, and handle administrative/clerical duties.
+ Communicate Effectively: Answer and screen all 911 emergency calls and personal telephone inquiries. Manage incoming mail and correspondence.
+ Technical Support: Maintain contact with technicians/engineers to report equipment issues and assist with equipment testing and repair.
+ Follow Protocols: Dispatch the appropriate emergency responders as required by Standard Operating Guidelines (SOG) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Make all required notifications per SOPQA, SOG, and policy.
+ MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED: Office equipment, Computer software, telephone, radio, etc..
+ WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Works in a general office environment, may be required to work an uncommon tour of duty including nights, weekends and holidays.
+ PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Continuous sitting, walking, and standing. Eye strain and repetitive motion during data entry periods.
Qualifications
+ Certified Telecommunications I & II.
+ Certified hazardous material awareness.
+ Certified Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) through the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED).
+ Active Shooter certification.
+ Complete all required courses per CNIC M-3440.18 within 6 months of employment.
+ Maintain 100% of required certifications throughout employment.
+ Complete a minimum of one Continuing Dispatch Education (CDE) module per month to maintain EMD certification.
+ Pass re-certification every two years to maintain active EMD certification.
+ All dispatchers will be trained IAW installation requirements for Security, Police, and Medical responses. Training shall also consist of Active Assailant/Active Shooter protocols and the following FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) training:
+ IS-005: An Introduction to Hazardous Materials
+ IS-100: Introduction to the Incident Management System
+ IS-200: ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents
+ IS-700: National Incident Management System (NIMS), An Introduction
+ IS-702: NIMS Public Information Systems (Class no longer available and no replacement provided at this time)
+ IS-800: National Response Framework, An Introduction (These courses can be taken online and shall be completed within the first 30 days of hire)
